    Hi,

My father has been referred to see a geriatrician. Does anyone know how long this will take? It is <snip> he has been referred to. We believe he has the onset of dementia and need a diagnosis asap. He's been waiting 4 mths. Also would anyone know if he can see this doctor privately?
    Thanks for any help

I'd say a google of your fathers Doctor's name will show what practises he works within, be it public or private.
A quick call to the relevant secretary will let you know the average waiting time in each case, as well as the costs associated with the private option.
If you are looking for secretary phone numbers, a google for the hospital directory, with the current year included, will usually give you a link to the relevant directory, often in PDF format.
Here's Beaumont's for example link, very handy and easily saved to your desktop
