I read somewhere that honey from local bees is also good.

Yes it is, but sourcing it lately has been an issue.
Pollen has been nonstop the last few weeks.

I always used to sustitute soya milk for cows milk when asthma would get bad...always improved it and easier sourced than a goat.

How do you milk a soya bean?:D
    Can't drink shop milk here.
It just tastes sour in comparison to your own milk. No one has asthma or allergies in this house.

A good friend used to keep several hives locally in Longford but unfortunately he had to relocate to Westmeath due to work commitments. We still meet up from time to time and he always has a few jars of honey for us :)

What is the time line for registering newborn calves. I completely forgot about ordering a set of tags for Daisy's calf but just put in an order now. I was wondering why he looked a bit different to the two AAx calves that she is rearing - he doesn't have earrings

Fifteen working days is the contract Mulinahone have. You will have tags in about two and a half weeks after the order clears.

Well if I have to wait two and a half weeks for the tags to arrive then I reckon I should log on to agfood tomorrow and register the calf since I know what his tag number is.

If you are only ordering the one tag it shouldn't take long. Also wait until you get the tag as the check digit might change. It doesn't always go in order

Also the medical card and free gp care for under 6's has people bringing their kids to the doctor for the slightest thing. Probably picking up more infection while in the waiting room than they had when they went in

I have a friend who is a complete neat freak overcleaner. Everything gets cleaned in Milton, floors, doors. It's added to both the dishwasher and washing machine. Neat Milton poured on the floor and scrubbed in.
The kids don't get a chance to get dirty. Real compulsive obsessive stuff.

Never have I seen such a sickly lot, asthma, sore troaths, ear infections, colds, sniffles. There's always something and near always one of them with the doctor.

Unfortunately my daughter had a lot of strong antibiotics when she was a baby and we think this has left her a bit allergic with hayfeever, local honey definitely helps but our local source has none this year due to the bad Spring. May have to get bees myself.

I have been the one with a very sick child who couldnt get an appointment. Something is not right somewhere, I have always paid for any of mine at doctors. Only a few weeks ago my dad couldnt get an appointment on Friday he was told to come in on Monday. 3 days away  most people only go when they are very sick . On the antibiotics, daughter got an ear infection with every tooth, so needed antibiotics each time ended up with febrile convulsions also, every visit and every antibiotic was paid for by us. She will loose her hearing before she's 40 due to all the damage done to her ears by the infections

Go and stand in any Drs or A&E around the country and see how many familiar faces are there regularly clogging up the system

biggest problem in A&E is the lack of staff, GP waiting times in my experience haven't changed much since I was a child which considering the population has increased since the early 90s is impressive

No think the biggest problem is people being there that shouldnt be there. GP or out of hours doctor first then if needed go to a and e.

Anything over 15years old now (car or jeep) and they don't want to know. Shocking. DOEs and NCTs don't appear to be worth rhe paper they are written on.

If you went around the far corner you'd see stones. Had to pick some using the JCB. Reclaimed 3 acres from the quarry that's adjacent to this field

Just when you mention it, the last honey I bought was from Longford, a nice filling station on the Arva-Longford road, had local honey & jam for sale.
Was good stuff & nice to see local produce being sold, was back since but sadly no honey

I've seen me having to wait up to 4 weeks before, but I ordered on line last Monday week & had them Monday gone by.
    Really impressed
