If mods feel this doesn't deserve its individual thread I understand.

Ahh sure why not!! Love the Players and Sawgrass!!

Probably could do with changing the title though. The Players is a little ambiguous and people might not recognise what the thread is for right away ;)

" The Players Championship @ Sawgrass " or something so people will know where to go to lol at all the people drinking it on 17 ;)

The 17th at Sawgrass has gotta be very high on the 'Holes I want to play before I Die' list...

Same as myself... and I know I would be looking forward to and thinking about the teeshot at 17 for a long time before...and then proceed stand up on the tee and hit it straight into the drink. :D

Got a 2ball for a friend for Sawgrass a few years ago and I remember the prices being very reasonable!

Back to this week... this course just sets up perfectly for Spieth and I think Stenson won't be too far behind come Sunday evening.

'doesnt deserve and individual thread' ?!?!?:confused::(

We have only just gotten over the thrilling climax to the Masters and now another major rolls around.

    Frickin fantastic. Cant wait.

Such beautiful balance in Lowry's finish.... if this was a pic of me at the finish of my swing, at least one of my legs and possibly both of my hands would be out of the frame... and my hat would probably have fallen off! :D:D :pac:

Its dreadful alright. Strange game where guys doing it all 'wrong' can play so well. Fair play to him. Real lack of release, and trying hard to keep the clubface open. Very flat and low arms seems to be the cause, making him make these drastic in-swing corrections. Great skill to pull it all off - sometimes a whole bunch of wrongs do make a right.

    Thanks a bunch Foreright :-)

I'd sooner those three together on Sunday, as it stands it's just a question of who handles the first two days the best in that group, won't necessarily be their best individual golf imo.
The PGA know where they earn their crust though(tv), and they're playing the right tunes.

Na, I got it right away. If you love your golf, you know what it means. If you don't know what it means... you don't belong here

Whilst I thought Tiger might do well at Augusta and he did, I think he is going to struggle at Sawgrass. He has struggled during practice rounds by accounts I read.

For anyone able to watch... Sky are showing Rory, Jordan and Jason's round on the red button at 1:30. How I would love to be over at Sawgrass to follow that group around.

Would like to see a few more of the Europeans contend this week...Kaymer, Stenson, Rose, Garcia...cant just be the Rory show...Tiger hopefully to make the cut and build on his Augusta performance...Casey might be a good shout for a strong showing aswell

Lowry has had two bogies in the first 3 holes. Disappointing, but early days.

Watch Haan get free relief here from the drain by playing left handed....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

Wished they showed the full scenario there... very interesting rules advantage which I knew he would take advantage of. Attempt to play it left handed so that he was standing in the drain... get free relief as a result.... 1 club length from NPR... and then play the shot right handed. :D

Could he have gotten a second relief (from his right handed stance) after that?

Yeah that would be an interesting one alright... I wouldn't imagine so because he would have had to take complete relief with the first drop.... but I am not sure.

Interesting rules scenario all the same because Hahn would have been in a bit of trouble but for the drop. Another case of the rules working for you.

Poulter seems to be struggling with the putter - he was 3 under until the last few holes, but gave away 2 shots.

Charlie Hoffman having some nightmare on the first. His tenth.

    Into trees off drive.
    Hits tree for second.
    Misses green on third shot.
    Putt roles back his feet.
Putts up and over the green then.

Dustin Johnson with a disaster on 17. Triple bogey 6 and back to level par.

Tiger just made an up and down from the bunker. He took his ball out of the hole and hse it to kaymers caddy who cleaned it and have it back to him.

Can't say ive noticed that before whereby caddys did that for other players

Ah yeah, you'd see that a bit alright. I noticed a few tournaments ago (at The Masters maybe......) that Phil's caddy cleaned Sergio's ball for him on one hole. Sergio's caddy was raking a bunker IIRC, so I'd say it just professional courtesy kinda thing.
