So we can look forward to wider seats and more legroom?

    And free H2O?

And pretty physios to massage us when we get all stiff and cranky on transatlantic flights?

    ;)

Christ that's awful. Cityjet did a great job on the Leinster jet, nice and simple, but that's just hideous.

It was said a few weeks ago on another thread that DEO might be repainted as that, great to see it happen

I'm not a fan.....mostly white with the players would have worked.
Not liking that light green....looks a bit childlike.

I'm holding out hope that it looks better in person.
On a side note, it's missing the shamrock... I wonder if WW has been in the marketing department recently ;);) .

The tail, the engine and the irfu logo???

I think the tail section design plus the players would have looked better. It feels like this was designed for an A330 or an aircraft of that length.

I'm hoping this will look better in the flesh. Still, it's good to have. Especially when the team is doing so well. Good advert for Ireland, rugby and EI.

It looks like a fake Ireland jersey from LIDL. Cheap.

Agree with the poster above, think it'd look better on a 330/777 length aircraft

    *I know EI don't have 777's

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 26,403 Mod ✭✭✭✭Peregrine

So, DEO will be named Green Spirit. Does anyone know when the last time an EI aircraft wasn't named after a saint was?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭keith16

Imagine when the aircraft touches down - oh, 5 points, conversion to come now from the pilot flying.

I'm talking proper ones, which make EI more distingishable... not that this plane won't stand out at a jetway...

The closer to the centre line you land, the easier the conversion :pac:

Imagine EI got their hands on them 6 Malaysian A380's as a gift from Mr.Muller. Paint them up In them IRFU colours they'd be great

Last summer they had an A320 on short term lease.......was called the "#thesocialjet".

    Before that....I'm thinking 1946!

Just looks like they mashed all the brain-storming ideas together to make a livery. Yuck.

Quite what the point of it all is escapes me. I'd rather they used the sponsorship money to improve their inflight service.

I used to work for a US company that was keen on this sort of advertising; sponsoring a football stadium as "Supercorp Bowl" or sponsoring a sports league. The problem was that the net benefit was unmeasurable and it was all based on a hunch that it would be effective advertising.

Oddly I could never manage to have my projects funded on a hunch!

    That livery is rank...

I'll reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh, doesn't look great on paper tbh.

I'm judging it now. By far the worst thing about it is that is just lazy.

The rugby ball on the tail looks stupid. I mean really stupid. And cheap.

They could easily incorporate the rugby ball into the nose of the aircraft as it is roughly the same shape.

Rugby is also famous for a game being played in the air, and the "aerial" battle is a key tactical element of any game. I think the ball could look amazing on the tail, if you had a player jumping up to catch it, think POC in a lineout, that would be amazing!

Or a player diving for the ball that's incorparated into the nose. That way, they are parallel to the ground. Honestly, this doesn't even need that much thought. A child could come up with this.

The colours look a bit cartoonish from the picture. However, I'll wait until I see it in the flesh. It looks like a cheap mock up of the livery. Could look well in the flesh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 658 ✭✭✭Razor44

You know if the nose was all green it wouldn't look near as cheap and nasty. It looks like a giant sticker over a white plane, Sadly. City jets lenster RJ looks so much classier.

I hope greenspirt looks better in the metal.

Keep in mind that the IRFU would have input into design...Im sure they choose which player to have from each province.

I like the ball replacing the shamrock on the tail. Its the garish light/dark green at the front that I dislike. A less 'busy' fuselage would focus attention on the four players.

Not a major fan, hoping somebody got carried away with the image....I think they should of gone for something like Bus Eireann coach. I do like the tail part!

I agree the tail is good, would have been interesting to see it applied on its own to the standard livery. Perhaps to one airframe of each type.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 860 ✭✭✭LiamaDelta

I agree. Fingers crossed that's just a mock up of a potential scheme because it looks woeful. I actually like the rugby ball on the tail though.
Isn't the chap that used to be Ryanair's marketing man now head of comms/marketing for the IRFU?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,163 ✭✭✭Blut2

The ball/shamrock on the tail is great. I think without the players it would actually look quite nice in real life. The players just make it look too cluttered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 956 ✭✭✭Bussywussy

Paul o Connell on the nose to make it look like he's coming to get you would be best!!

Just imagine how good it will look when it touches down in Dublin Airport with the World Cup winning squad on board to bring the trophy to its new and rightful home...?

A quick turnaround and a short hop to Shannon to drop off Paul O'Connell and Peter O Mahony, the Connaught and Ulster lads can get the Eircoach....
