The Ford interval is 200,000km but many of them are failing before reaching this interval so it would be advisable to get it done early. Based on our experience with them we recommend doing them around 150,000km.

An average price in an independent garage would be €600-650.

Lots of info about them in this thread (starting at post #17):

hi George thank you for the reply, i bought my car from a dealer a month ago and only just figured out about wet belt and just want to know where I stand, he never mentioned wet belt to me!

It is better to find out about the wet belt now rather than after it has failed!

What mileage is on the car?

Has it got any service history? Could the belt have been changed already?

George belt not changed, there's 98,000 miles on car, have 6 months warranty, but when I questioned him he said he will get me a quote 😳 I paid a lot of money for this car and I don't want to spend any more money, I'm so mad over this 😡

It's an unfortunate situation but as I said previously it is better to know about it now. If it had broken outside warranty it would cost you about €3500 to repair.

When did Ford actually start fitting the wrt belt? My TDCI was registered July 2008, so I'm not sure if mine is a chain or belt. Can you tell looking at bottom of engine/covers etc? I rang 3 Ford dealers today regarding a quote for replacing a wet belt..none of them had heard of the wet belt. This was odd as there is loads of horror stories on the net where these belts have broken.

The general rule of thumb is any 1.8TDCI car with a build date after Obtober 2007 is fitted with the wet belt.

When my sister went looking main dealer price was 12-1400 one said he would do it for €750 but furiously back peddled when she tried to book it in.

You don't need any special equipment, George did my sisters one, it was a bit over the recommended mileage, the belt was in bits, wouldn't have lasted much longer.

Cheers George, looks like an expensive job then.
