    Hi there

I'm heading to Connemara for the bank holiday with my boyfriend. We love walks and hikes. Would anyone have any walking or hiking routes they would recommend? We are staying at Maam cross but we'll have the car and will be driving all around. Other activity recommendations for the area would be appreciated also!

    TIA!

There is also a trail from Oughterard to Maam if you don't feel like orienteering with a map etc. It's an easy walk with a track and signs.

    Diamond hill (Connemara national park)
Cong is lovely, and a beautiful drive

There's a million things to hike, climb and drive around that area. Roundstone is beautiful. Clifden has some great restaurants.

Dogs Bay outside Roundstone is great for a beach walk. The beach is like a spit that leads to an old island so the area beyond the beach is very large and its commonage so its okay to walk out there and there's some stunning views. Make sure to close gates, etc.

The Sky Road outside Clifden. Nice beaches down at the end. And its a loop so you can take the lower road on the way back.

A nice drive with opportunities to stop and walk is the old Clifden Bog Road off the R341 between Cashel and Roundstone.

Its cuts through a large desolate area of bog and lakes and rejoins the R341 just outside Clifden. Its barren, remote and empty and you can park anywhere firm and walk in any direction (not the best walking terrain though!). Beautiful views even if you dont stop, and it brings you almost to Clifden so its not out of the way.
