Sound bar

I have an LG soundbar, Samsung tv & a azbox hd premium plus sat receiver. Both the tv and sat box have optical connections so which is best to connect the soundbar to or does it matter. Btw have tried both & not noticed much difference just wondering if there any pecking order involved.
