Archer out of the 2nd Test for breaching biosecurity rules. Not sure how exactly.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro_T20_Slam

set to start on 20/08/2020 with all games in malahide.

    6 icon players:
Shahid Afridi, Martin Guptill, Rashid Khan, Brendon McCullum, Eoin Morgan and Shane Watson

    6 marquee players:
Babar Azam, JP Duminy, Chris Lynn, Luke Ronchi, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir

i presume these wont be playing now which is a real shame in the inaugural year.

bit unclear what he did exactly, but the ECB are taking no chances:

The ECB has confirmed Archer will now commence five days of isolation and will undergo two COVID-19 tests in this period, which have to test negative before his self-isolation period is lifted.

Stopped off at his home on the way to Manchester apparently.

Whole new bowling attack except for Bess which is no bad thing for England long term. They need to start looking at all bowling options because I don’t see there being much time gap between Anderson and Broad retiring.

Pope eventually will move higher. Best prospect in world cricket probably.

I think Stokes has the game for 5. Excellent defensive technique and every shot. Proper batsman and moving him lower only gives him less opportunities and batting more with the riff raff.

Root back to his best is what England need.

Pope is a fantastic prospect but at the moment 6 is probably the right place for him, Stokes likewise particularly if he doesn’t start getting rid of the weirds walking thing he’s started doing which is getting him out too often now and Buttler needs to start playing like he does in odis and t20s and stop trying to be a test batsman.

Burns got out to Chase, just before the lunch break, always amazes me in test cricket after a delayed start that they don't just play a 2 or 2 and a half hour session, and break around 3:00 in this instance after a 12:30 start

    It's turning, turning a lot.

Real time that looked plumb out, saved by about 2 centimeters.

Could be a long day in the field tomorrow for the Windies. This england team bat very deep. Buttler needs a score, Curran or Woakes in at 9, Bess averages 20 at 10 and Broad used to be a capable batsman, he can still pull out the a 20-30 odd runs.

2.52 is a very conservative run rate but a lot of that was down to good accurate bowling, the English lads didn’t give up many chances and only 3 down going into the 2nd day...morning session tomorrow could very well write the script as to how the result barring weather etc.

57 runs added in a session, exciting stuff.

Big blow for the West Indies now, two frontline bowlers suffering injuries / niggles.

English batsmen looking to put the foot down. Hopefully the weather tomorrow might become a little more positive so that a result is achievable, been a very interesting match so far.

Sibley out trying a big shot... arguably he’s looked in a bit of a rut today as regards procuring more big runs quickly..

Disappointed Campbell got out, he plays some lovely shots, West Indies will have to bat for 4 or 5 sessions to save the game, but I thought England were overly defensive, took a lot of time out of the game

England are going to need to do something special from here to win the test and keep themselves in contention for the trophy, play today sounding very doubtful

Yep the Beeb don't sound too positive about us seeing any balls bowled today, England probably need to enforce the follow on here to have a chance at winning, now!

And we are done for the day. Disappointing not to get any play in. Had been an excellent first couple of days but that foreboding slate gray Manchester sky showing no let up, frustrating. Even if they’d got 15 overs in, anything.

Two days play remaining and the weather IS looking fair for the remainder of the test match, sunny in the main, a few clouds but very windy... first couple of sessions crucial.

So 15 minutes until the first ball of the day gets bowled... I’m excited... weather set fair and mostly sunny with a bit of wind around... first session, session and a half will play a big part in deciding if a result is possible... England will be hoping that late decision not to send the Curran lbw shout upstairs for a check during the last session of play does not come back to haunt them, crashing into middle and leg halfway up the stumps...careless.

Crawley costing Wokes a wicket and Stokes a catch, diving almost full length in front of Stokes in the slips to try and claim a catch that should have been a simple one for Stokes, straightforward and some.

192-3 West Indies. Sensible batting, 350+ will lock up a draw

230/4 turns into 252/7, a new man in and a new ball. Still 18 runs short of the follow on...

Aye ideally England enforce the follow on so a conclusion is more likely. What's the weather forecast like for tomorrow?

I don't think it would be the worst idea to throw Buttler and Root out to open, let loose and try and get 100 on the board before declaring. Give the Windies a little notion of having something to chase before close.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,112 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

is it within 100 or 150 to avoid the follow on?

Agree with this, time is running short, need 75 overs with the ball. West Indies didn't do enough yet to secure a draw

Stokes and Buttler opening, will be interesting

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Roach bowling well, Buttler out for a duck 1-1

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,829 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Fair pay to Root, trying to squeeze whatever advantage there might be to try and enable even the slim possibility of a victory at this stage. Cook would have been just playing the percentages and settling for a do not loose scenario.

Nasser Hussein in the commentary box telling others to get on with it, then fellas forgot how they played themselves. He would put you to sleep most of the time with his batting, slow as a funeral
