Yes, swans. They have about 8 or 9 collective nouns.

Well waddya know, I never knew swans had so many group names!

What was the link between Waterford's Catholic and Protestant cathedrals - a link that made them unique in Europe?

They both have the same name but Armagh has that too. I have no idea as yet.

No, they do not have the same name.

Of course you're right. But aren't they both named after the Holy Trinity?

Oh, my apologies, it is indeed dedicated to the Holy Trinity, but it is locally and commonly called Christ Church, I was not aware of the dedication. That is not the reason for their particular uniqueness though.

They are both Georgian. They're hardly both built or dedicated in the same year, are they? Though given the religious history of this country it seems unlikely.

No, not the same year, though not that far apart, they are both Georgian, but that is not especially unique.

    They are both by Pugin.

Any more takers, or do I give the answer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,756 ✭✭✭✭looksee

Ok, the answer is that both were designed by architect John Roberts; this was a unique situation in Europe in having a Protestant and Catholic cathedral in the same city designed by the same person.

Golden King and Silver Queen are the rather illogical names for what? And why are they illogical?
