Right to finally they've launched the recruitment drive. I'm sure Im not the only one who reckons the form is nasty! Anyone got any advice for it- I have been working in the UK for the past five years so didn't apply for the last one.

Hi I applied for the panel and have an interview at some stage next month but they never stated what group I was in, would this mean having an interview early I'd be in group A? Alot of my college friends got interviews for next month too, does this also mean everyone who applied is getting there interview next month? I'm just wondering because obviously it's been changed since 2013 and there's no Skype interview anymore. Can anyone help?

    Hi,
I qualified 2011 but have been working as a project worker with a charity since. I applied for the panel and also got told I have an interview next month. As far as I'm aware everyone has got it for them and it's only after the face to face interviews that you are grouped into a,b,c,d. Maybe I read this wrong but that's what I gathered from reading the info sheet with the application. I completed my social work MSW in Edinburgh so I don't really know what's involved here. Best of luck with it :)

Yeah its just confusing because they used to band you into groups then gave you a number within that group after the face to face interview so you know where your ranked and can accept job offers so if two people went for the same job they knew who would get it regarding who was higher in the group. If that makes sense how they done it now by scraping the Skype interview is just confusing now and how will they interview absolutely everyone who applied in a two week time frame....whopper confused!!

Congrats on getting a date for the interview, I have been given mine on the 24th, I'm applying for the Waterford/Wexford area. I have spoken to a couple of social workers and all of them said the same thing know your application form inside out. I'm nervous about this cause I know it could be at least another 2 years before it comes up again. If I happen to come across any other info I'll post up on this. Best of luck with it :)

    Hi All,

I've my interview on the 23rd. Just trying to do some prep.for it now. I'm wondering will they ask basic questions as they would in a normal interview situation, eg, why do you want this job? strengths and weaknesses? your biggest achievement etc.

    What do ye think?

Nope they won't ask you the typical questions they'll go through your examples on your application and could ask for more examples under the headings evaluating info and judging situations, communication, planning and organisation, team skills etc.......like why did you do that?how did you go about planning that? Blah blah blah.....and asking scenario questions....how would you support someone with MH issues...self harm...training and theory to practice all that....so with the scenario ques they can ask you anything about SW

Okay great thanks a million. So the scenario based questions don't exactly have to be related to anything you have wrote in your application form re competencies?; they can just be random questions?

Yep random.questions they could be questions that you haven't even had experience in like addiction, mental health, disability, supervision, training, etc

I'm also up on the 10th. I think I'm prob the last interview of the day. I'm going over the job descriptions at the moment and picking out everything I need to know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Pudgey

Thanks Roberta88. It's hard to know what areas to concentrate on then beyond those stated on the Application Form. As in the line of scenarios, theory, legislation they could really ask you anything. It's a tough process isnt it.

I'm on the 23rd too. Haven't started prepping for it yet. Yikes.

Hi, so I met with a social worker yesterday who knows a few people on her team went for the interview. She said
    - Know the form you completed inside out, especially the e.gs of competencies you gave.
    - Know what pols and theories relate to these examples
    - Reflective work- what you could have done differently or improve on
    - They were asked hat frameworks they use when working with young people
    - one was asked about conflict in teams
    - one was asked about working in primary care settings
    - one asked about supervision pols and the Barr Judgement.

I have a lot of reading to do before Wednesday!!!!

if anyone who did the interviews could give some advice it would really be appreciated!

    Thanks & good luck,
    Aoife

Are they all being held here? Also what do you have to bring? I moved house during the week and can't find the letter anywhere, total panic station!

Quick Tip: You are not supposed use term Barr Judgement in relation to procedure. Now called Section 3 procedure.

You not get the email last week? Unfortunately there delayed and they'll text/email when they post them....although I'm on edge and just want to know!the waiting is the worst!!my poor postman hasn't been pleased with me stalking him for the letter....they weren't supposed to come through anyway until this week coming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

I did but just wondering if anyone had called to check if there was a clearer timeframe than a few weeks. Might be away when the letter arrives :\

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

Aw I see.....hopefully they shouldn't be too long I'd estimate maybe the end of the month or beginning of August but sure who knows....be nice to have an exact date though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 Eva25

My heart was pounding last week when I got the text to check my email and I was so disappointed when I read it! Is this unusual for a delay or is it the norm does anyone know?

From looking at the forum for the 2013 social work interviews, they didn't wait this long but they were classed in groups of how well they done in their application and Skype interviews but they haven't done that this time so I'd say this why there taking this long they interviewed over 1000 people.

Over a 1000! Jayney I didn't realise there was that many. Well suppose all we can do is wait, just would love to know if I got on it, I'm usually a very patient person ha.

I do think it was a bit ridiculous how they said 'a number of weeks' before they'd let us know. What's that supposed to mean? That vagueness drives me mad, surely they anticipated the amount of candidates? Anyways, they should be here any day if they were due 2 weeks from 22.07.15...

I was harassing my parents this week to see what post was after coming every day! I really just want to know at this stage

I got placed as 16 and am expecting something soon enough. The register has become live as and from today. I'm currently working in children in care and my team leader reckons there will be a massive recruitment! Then again everything with these things seems to take time !!!!! Hard to say !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

Yeah I got placed in the fourties and am currently on a children in care team also but I'm also like I don't know if I want to stay in CP so guess have to see what posts come up, be good to see anyway!id say they will with so many vacancies on teams and so many cases trying to keep on top of them! Here's hoping for something soon cause can't cope with these early early mornings to travel to the other side of the city

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 Eva25

I came 19th/20th on the TUSLA/HSE Panels in my area waterford/wexford. Anyone else apply for this area? Fingers crossed for jobs soon. A team leader recently said she thinks there will be alot of movement soon enough.
