    Event entry requests/offers
Do not start any requests in the main forum requesting or offering entries for events such as the WW200, ROK, SKT etc. Do a search in the Cycling Adverts sub-forum. If no thread has already been started for a particular event in a particular year you may start one. A single thread should be used for all requests and offers for each event, with priority being given to the earliest poster who is seeking an entry

Hey, very disappointed I missed out on a place. Would be grateful to get a slot on the ROK as I've already got accommodation booked. Thanks.

such an entry system mess. we were a group of eight . 2-3 have entries, by each individually applying the remaining do not.

had the system permitted each entry to purchase multiple entries, we would not be in this mess. the on line forced 8 applications in our case when one entry system visit, should have taken care of the group. needless only 2 lads

didn't the system break down and go off line for a week, nobody thought to fix the issue in that time frame ? fix to permit multiple entries per event site visit ?

so what do you do ? give up the accommodation

conclusion, if you want to go as a group, the likelihood of all group members getting entries for the ring of Kerry is slim,

solution: for a group entry, go to the 'An Post Series'.

Does that mean you / your group have entries that they are not using. If that is the case I would be really glad to use them as I'm looking for 2. Pm me if you are interested.

There'll be so many thousands on the roads, some of which are closed roads, that non participants I fear will be prevented passing on basis of health and safety...although on a one way system it would be more careless to send cyclists back... Has anyone tried it without an entry?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,952 ✭✭✭funnights74

There are checkpoints, with gardai along the route. i have seen them remove cyclists so trying it without the required Tags is not advised.

Where does a removed cyclist go when removed ?

At the checkpoint in Kenmare, anyone without a tag were not allowed up Molls Gap. They had to divert by Kilgarvan and in the Cork road to Killarney.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,952 ✭✭✭funnights74

There was also a checkpoint at Fossa, They were sent back along the fire station road.

Fair enough. Doesn't sound like a runner.

Their is checkpoints at fossa but they can't stop you from cycling and the roads are not closed and who says you have to start from Killarney???????

Of course u can start anywhere but u still have to pass through both fossa and kenmare and as these sections of route are on closed roads they have the right to not allow you to pass thes points.

Or the person who doesn't have a ticket could do the event another day rather than leeching off the organisers efforts for free! At least donate some cash to a charity if the person intends to "join in"....

I totally agree with what you say about people leeching. If you are going to do the event you should have the respect and pay / donate the money. The problem that people have is that the entry system that was used along with the various excuses about this is not a race / sportive has bittered some people.

I understand that , I was bittered last year by the process, i got a ticket due to a cancellation in the end but I would never have had the audacity to "bunk" into the event. There is a sense of entitlement some people have here for what ever reason. There were only x number of tickets despite how the ticket sales were managed, people would have always missed out. If the same happened for a concert or sports match you'd respect it due to having no choice.

Where are the roads closed in kenmare.I was never checked there and they can't stop you as there are only one person able to stop you on the road and we all know who they are .

They were closed and they DO have the right to stop you as they had to pay the council for the right to have a closed road and as such own the road for the period of the closure. As they can only accommodate 11000 or so cyclists on the day and seen as all these places are filled theirs not much more they could do. They made every effort to make it fair to everybody by employing an outside agency to distribute entries. The fact that that company had problems was an issue that I am sure the rok committee will look at going forward. As an aside if people really wanted to do the ring and thought about how it has been filling up much quicker over the last few years they should have registered through one of the registered charities directly which for the last few years has been by far the easiest way of registering. Anyway hope everyone doing it has a safe and enjoyable day😄

Desperately looking for a pair of tickets for this year. Failed on the initial three days it was allegedly open and also missed out on the lottery. Accommodation booked months ago and would be willing to also donate above the cost price to a sellers charity of choice - at their own discretion of course. Please message me if you need to offload a pair if tickets or even just one. Thank you.
