Looks like it'll be a cracking game. Two strong teams out, probably Ulsters strongest of the season so far.

Prediction: Ulster to get 4 points, Connacht to get 1.

Ye serious team from ulster, but hoping for a big connacht performance. Best back line (has serious potential if clicks, an hVe a good 10) and good pack too. I would say missing heenan is a biggie but Masterson has been playing very well.

I think fairly even for most player match ups though a few in ulster's favour.
    Mon connacht ðŸ˜႒

Is it windy in Galway? usually the middle of the day is the windiest for sea breezes.

The first cup final out of four coming up for Connacht In the fight for 6th and a seriously strong Ulster team named with playoff rugby to secure. This should be a cracker.
Heart says Connacht head says Ulster hopefully my head is wrong

Will be interesting, it's a bit of a cup final for Ulster as well. Ulster definitely have the better team but that usually doesn't count for much in Galway! Connacht have a good side out themselves, home advantage and a superior coach. Ulster should probably win but Connacht are very much in with a chance of a win themselves.

Lovely stuff. Great line from Payne initially. Good play from Henry and Henderson.

    Great poaching by Henderson.

great runs and offlads by Payne and Henry for the try. Great to have them back.

And now a good turnover by Hendo. Going well for ulster

Here's the deal Connacht. You win and deny Ulster the LBP and we'll win and deny Edinburgh the LBP.

But was Henry part of the ruck or was he just standing there minding his own business? That's the key point I think. Would need to see it again.

Best place to be playing rugby in the Ulster half with this wind

That's true. Didn't think of it from that point of view. I was just thinking it was for him flying into a ruck with his shoulder

This could be a try. No offside in the goal area.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    He's going to give this.

    Edit: nope

    No try. Correct call.

Barnes is right that Owens was going the other way.

    No argument tbh

How could that ever have been a try anyway? Surely Aki could never have been onside?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Incorrect call for me. No way was there downward pressure from pienar, he wanted to clear.

    Connacht robbed there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,563 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Connacht made a right balls of that. Should have come away with a score there.

No offside line behind the try line. Clever from aki.

Henderson has been immense so far.

If he was going to pass the ball as he was clearly was surely that doesn't count as downward pressure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Connacht shooting themselves in the foot by being too hot headed at the breakdown. Just soak the tackles and pick your battles. Always been a problem with them IMO.

It doesn't matter what he planned to do after he applied the pressure, only that he did so.

Well kinda.. I don't think intent has anything to do with it, but it does suggest he didn't want a 5m defending scrum and was trying to clear it, ergo he would've rolled it back to get a better grip on it to clear.

Really not sure how you can prove there was downward pressure those situations, unless we install touch sensitive pads in the in goal area! :pac:

That is terrible protection of the ball Ulster!

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Yes! Bowe!

    What a pass from PJ.

Connacht can't hold onto a ball on a sunny day in Galway....

Ulster absolutely shooting up off the line in defence, putting Connacht on the back foot each time and it's working superbly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭Redo91

Forward pass? Looked it from the Clan.
