Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thought it was poor.

He should forget Mary Lou not even close.

    Damian o Reilly ditto.

Apart from Leo and Murphs, I thought it was poor. :(

Just catching up with Callan’s Kicks after giving it a wide berth for several years. It has improved massively. The Leo and Murphs double act is an absolute riot.

I'm really surprised that so many people don't like this show. I think the gags are funny, the impressions often credible, but more importantly I think there's an important commentary on some important political issues in there too. Everybody else seems to have forgotten about the the Garda corruption. Nobody else will dare mention Denis O'Brien. I think there's a useful truth in a lot of it.

the ifta skit and the gabriel byrne rant werent far off the mark on last fridays show. I like the des cahill skits he does to. its much better then gift grub which has really gone past its sell by date

I would have a lot more respect for Callan's focus on Denis O'Brien if he, Callan, wasn't working for Rupert Murdoch's Sun. To much hypocrisy there for my liking.

    Useful to know. Interesting.

He doesn't seem to be able to decide if he is a mimic or a political commentator so he has decided to be bad at both.

Yes indeed. Oliver Callan Vs Gabriel Rosenstock in the my billionaire (Murdoch) is better than your billionaire (O'Brien) competition.

I honestly think he's good at both. He's a recognisable mimic, which is better than many impressionists. His political insight is better than anything else I hear on Radio one too. Though that says more about the standard of political analysis on RTE than him.

Some of the mimicry is good, some not. The political commentary is little more than cheap shots (most of which miss) but each to his own.

Tonight’s episode should be interesting, given what has happened in Washington :D

Michael D - "And why was Luke Skywalker sitting beside me. Social media went wild with the 'Yoda' jokes".

The Marty Morrissey sketch was good too.

I enjoyed tonight’s show but thought the Rory Best sketch was a bit inappropriate

He's a very good mimic but an average comedian IMO.

Typical pathetic Irish attempt at comedy.

That was a good skit on the ad for northern Ireland on last night's show. Wonder does paddys lawyer think it was defamatory

Some nice little digs at Leo The Disappointment on Friday's show. Almost too easy at this stage, but well executed.

I KNOW DAT! I KNOW DAT! I KNOW DAT! :pac:

I'm a regular listener so to speak; just think he's upped his game on Leo in recent weeks/months. Mind you Leo does give plenty of material to work with.....

    Upped his game......:D

He’s been targeting the lad for yonks with everything he’s got....

As you say gets plenty to work on.

Trying to big himself up as a columnist, in my opinion.

It's nice to see a dissenting voice on Leo though. I think the mainstream media are almost afraid to pull him (;)) up on any of the nonsense that he comes out with, his bolloxology, his overwhelming need to be liked, his U turns etc. I often wondered was that because he was gay and he'd play that card if criticised. Obviously he can't do that in this case.

Plenty of dissenting voices,Butters, plenty of cardboard cowboys like Callan and Co. who haven’t a brain between them.

You see Butters, it’s like the pundits on tv, they know everything after the fact.

All they have to do is ,with the benefit of hindsight is to horse out this and that and so forth and the weak-chinned wannabe beards and virtual revolutionaries will lap it up and deify them when in reality they are just hollowed out logs.

Know you aren’t in that category Butters, criticizing Fateen as you do, pretty damn certain you would wipe the floor with him, just given the chance, pretty damn sure lad.

I'm just waiting for the day and the right opportunity Brendan.....

On Leo though, I don't really see much by way of criticism in the mainstream; I really don't. Perhaps you can point me in the way of some - genuinely interested in this.

A lot of it is subliminal, Butters, the dig here ,the dunt there, the leather elbowed socialists like Callan an say Gene Kerrigan ..your man Fateen.. Mary Wilson ..all seem to ‘string up’ when shunting the boot in.

Don’t take my word for it, and make no mistake Leo puts them up to to allow the swings, you put em up, I’ll knock em down stuff, but it’s there Butters, it’s definitely there.......look closely my friend.
