IMO top 5 A/R posters of all time

    5. Stazza - a devisive figure to be sure but his consistent story telling and copy paste jobs from let's run certainly got people talking!

    4. Kurt Godel - before the split was consistently interesting and knowledgable

    3. Dr. Quirkey - pure legend . A bit troll like but had an uncanny ability to get a thread shut

    2. Ecoli - unreal knowledge and always helpful. Great mod as well

    1. Krusty - nothing more needs to be said

Honerary mention : Clara Lara , Ososlo, meno, Hunnymonster and josh Harris

Thoughts? Let's celebrate the best of the forum!

Before it gets locked, always thought Mr Slow offered very solid, knowledgeable advice.

Interesting list you have there - define 'legend' (for this purpose) - would agree with some of your list but not all ;)

Would put EcoliI top of the pile in fairness. Great contributions also from Krusty, Kurt, Martastew & Claralara. Always enjoyed Ultraman for his ability to convey a lot with very few (real) words, Tunguska for gems of wisdom, Digger for craic, DrQ for solid advice & a lot of devilment, TRR for taking an interest in what people are doing, Meno for solid advice. Amongst newer posters TBL's log always raises a smile ...... Bound to have missed some there ...:)

An honourable mention to Dar Byrne. Much missed around these parts. Gone but not forgotten.

A lot of people forget Tingle/Thirtyfoot. He was an excellent poster. Track and field talk has taken a hit since he left. Also a shame that Pherdykes, Rineanna and Brianderunner don't post as much these days. Myflipflops was gas craic also.

Randy Mann was good as well for sprint stuff. Agree on MFF

Good for you. And when I get banned, unlike you, I won't re-reg and start the same crap again. Nor will I post a pathetic appeal on the prison forum pleading how misunderstood I am.
BTW, how is the rival site working out for you? Not as popular as you thought!

I have already made it clear I'm not Doc Q! I do speak to him though and will pass along your regards.

Very strange being so wound up over some randomer on the net !

Not forgetting Tergat, some of the most insightful and logical training advice around.

For me it's Ray. Who else would think of posting in the marathon novice thread to cut yer toenails a week before the big day in case you clip them too short ? Invaluable advice for me

YoungAnne imparted some great advice in the Novices Thread of 2012(i think) to.

I have no problem with the thread, its the OP I have a problem with. He's a re-reg who was banned at least twice from posting on this forum. His first posts today was to pickup where he left off.
Its sad he's been indulged again.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 352 ✭✭NetwerkErrer

Another poster that deserves a mention is clearlier. Wide ranging knowledge across the board and doing a stellar job with the graduates.

Any scrape I've been in on boards, the main thing that's come out of it is to attack the post, not the poster. Who cares who started the thread ? It's a great thread, let's let it be, eh ?

This actually has the potential to be a good thread. We've had threads like this before actually...nice bit of nostalgia sometimes.

Nothing to suggest at this time that the OP is a re-reg of a banned poster. No backseat modding or attacking other posters please.

Someone mentioned mrslow earler or mrs low as a few people thought. Great guy and funny as fook when as a sub 3.30 marathoner he was still wearing a nutrition belt during 5k's.... Loaded up with water, powerade and gels!

    OK.
Woddle- best poster ever. I know he's still around in another name, but he did more for this forum than anyone else.

Woddle was a super poster and probably the best mod the forum has had. Lots of the great threads you still see (race profiles by GPS on events, 1000 mile challenge, spotlight threads etc) were his ideas.

    Other mentions:
Didn't Ciaran O'Lionard post here for a while?

Also Josh Harris (at the time WR holder for the beermile) for posting on the first beermile thread and sending us an instructional video via youtube. Legendary stuff!!

RacoonQueen has been mentioned already but deserves another IMO

She led the Turd for the first 300 metres of the Beer Mile in 2013? Before she ended up allegedly puking on Menos couch, highly unusual behaviour!
