    Firstly I wish to pay tribute to Donald Helme on his stewardship of Jazz Alley & question the decision which has lead to the cancellation of this fine jazz show. I wish Donald well & hope that the Lyric FM management will re-consider their position in regard to Jazz Alley & the other specialist music broadcasts ( Gloria, Reels To Ragas ) which have also been terminated.

    103.2 Dublin City FM are glad to confirm that Jazz Mine will continue in the 5 to 6PM Saturday slot & hosted by myself Sean Brophy.

    Poems by W.B.Yeats, Lewis Carroll and Stevie Smith with the music of Kenny Wheeler.

    Kenny Wheeler’s wonderful musical settings performed by the new Irish jazz voice Lauren Kinsella, as part of Nikki Ile’s Irish Jazz Sextet. On each night they will be accompanied by a different choir, Kilkenny College Senior Choir on the Tuesday and the Resurgam Choir on the Friday. Both will be conducted by the extraordinary jazz choirmaster Pete Churchill, providing two diverse versions of 'Mirrors'.

    Truly DiVine guests on Jazz Mine No. 49 as we introduce her debut album Close Your Eyes ( with Josh Johnston ).
    “Close Your Eyes” opens with that kind of jazz number that’s not quite a standard, but resonates a jazz heyday that’s a joy to re-experience. You know that old movie scene … the one where the guy in the double-breasted suit walks into a nightclub and stares up at a siren in a lamé dress? That’s the one. The lights are low and the mood is sultry and the songs will inevitably be of seduction, love or heartbreak.

    This is the setting for “Close Your Eyes”, the excellent debut CD from Dutch singer Truly DiVine and Irish pianist Josh Johnston, a duo whose themed shows have delighted Dublin audiences over the past three years. With titles like “Burning Love”, “Dietrich’s Angels”, “Dreaming of Doris” and “Screen Sirens” the evenings presented both standard and lesser-known jazz songs in a velvet and cigarettes ambience, with Miss DiVine’s mellifluous vocal and flirty stage patter pitched splendidly against Johnston’s dry wit and consummate piano mastery. The result is no little magic.

    Truly DiVine & Josh Johnston will launch "Close Your Eyes" with a special concert as part of the 2016 Spring Journey programme at the Dublin Unitarian Church. Come and share the magic.
