Eurotrash and some dodgy French language films on Channel 4 were my go to material as a youngster. There was also a guy called Graham who would come around weekly in a van with some very dodgy low budget VHS tapes for rental, as well as an old video rental shop called Merlin Videos in Janesboro Limerick which would have raunchy teen comedies such as Porky's and Atomic High to rent. Back then I could rent anything, the store employees didn't seem to care about age ratings on the tapes.

quite it's porn it was pre internet , there was a local video rental store that wasn't a chain. Just some dude stand alone shop - he had a huge porn stash on the old VHS tapes. The Private brand was my favourite. no qualms renting to teenage lads , our cash was as good as anybody's.

There would be foreign films on channel 4 with lots of nudity, there were porno magazines, there were licensed adult shops and of course there were video shops that had adult films under the counter not on display I presume you mean what was porn before the Internet existed there were adult xx channels on sky tv . Gen z is spoiled now its all free on the Web

Of course at some point most local video library's were all replaced by xtravision

It seems quaint now. Going to a shop to rent one film and you had to bring it back the next day there was a time when it was illegal for a bookshop to sell playboy magazine

If I had known then what I know now I would have jumped on the bus up to Newry from Dublin and bought a load of "Mayfair" and "Men Only" mags and cut out the pics and sold them individually on building sites. Would have made a fortune.

With the recent death of actress Mary Collinson, I'm reminded how I taped her film Twins of Evil off BBC circa 1993 and made a few quid renting it to lads from school. The twin actresses (Mary and Madeline) were former Playboy models and I think there was a tiny glimpse of some pubic hair in the film which was obviously "enough" for some lads. I was more of a Eurotrash and Betty Blue fan myself.

Ahh, bush porn as we termed it back in the day(not to be confused with ladies of a more hirsute nature in the downstairs dept). An odd phenomenon peculiar to the 70's and 80's where porn could often be found in the bushes of local parks and the like and the location shared among youngfellas.
