He's a good player, I'm not disputing that. I hope the opportunity cost of Kirchner's signature wasn't signing a new scrum-half...

The main factor in not signing a new SH was that we already have two Ireland internationals on the books. There just isn't room. Whether we need a new SH is a different conversation, but we were never going to sign one.

Leinster have two Ireland internationals following re-signing them both last season. So before that there was an opening to sign a new 9. Btw what happened to Hoffman coming over as a RWC joker?

There was no opening, unless IRFU released one of their RWC squad, four months before the RWC. Even if Leinster wanted to, Schmidt and Nucifora were never going to sanction that.

The presence of Pienaar might also be a factor.

No idea re Hoffman, I'd rather give McGrath a go and let McCarthy get a few runs off the bench.

    Try for Conan.

Good run out for the lads but would be better to have stronger oppo.

And Ferg slotting the touch line conversion to show he still has it after a Beirne try and another one from Conan.

    42-0 after an hour.

49 now, Ferg try in corner

Our best players were Dundon, Reid, O'Shea, Mick McGrath, Royce Burke Flynn...

And no, no connection between them...

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,308 Mod ✭✭✭✭.ak

In all seriousness though mick McGrath was very good. Himself and fanning were our best wingers but I'd have McGrath down as having a better game just because he absolutely dominated the break down and came in off his wing all the time. He has a try, one assist and effected a few turnovers. Great game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,603 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd
