Amazon 2 week delivery estimate

    Hi everyone,

Has anyone noticed that Amazon.co.uk has gotten very slow lately?

I selected super saver delivery (4-5 business days). I'd expect the package to arrive sometime next week.

They estimate it's going to take 8 business days after placing my order.

The two products I bought are "in stock".

I don't get it why they are so delayed.

Are these products direct from Amazon or from a third-party and "fulfilled by Amazon"?

For Amazon-stocked stuff I have always received my parcels 1-2 days ahead of their estimated delivery date.

    +1

Depeneds on the FC it is coming from too.

Both are sold directly from Amazon.

What I can't understand is how Super Saver Delivery is marked as 4-5 business days, yet the delivery estimate is way above that.

Sounds like the delay is specific to the product.

Try contacting Amazon. Buried deep within the help section there a chat facility:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=gw_m_b_he?ie=UTF8&nodeId=471044

I've used the chat help before with Amazon US and they are actually very good at sorting out delivery issues.

Super Saver Delivery is marked as 4-5 business days, AFTER dispatch.
So the estimated delivery date is accurate still

Looks like a way of persuading their customers to go prime or pay for delivery

Prime is not available in Ireland.

Prime is not available in Ireland.

It is if you use Parcel Motel..

Just bought an item on Monday and needed it to be here by Friday as I'm off on holidays on Sunday.

So I decided to pay for standard delivery, rather than super saver. Item is in stock sold by Amazon. It's been preparing for dispatch since Monday. Estimated deliver is Saturday-Wednesday. Not exactly 3-5 days.

    Ahh I see.

Still don't understand why an item that's in stock would take around 3 days to dispatch.

If you order something on monday and need it by friday you should have opted for their 2 day delivery. It is 3 to 5 days after dispatch. Even if it was 3-5 days including dispatch you were depending on the lower end of the estimate.

Super saver delivery orders are packed after other orders. So if they have a lot of standard delivery or 2 day delivery orders then the super saver delivery orders get pushed to the side until the others are done.

Well it's the first and last time I'm paying for delivery. Ordered 4 days ago and it's been in preparing for dispatch ever since.

I'd have canceled but it's heavily discounted at the moment.

You could cancel and then re-purchase with Super Saver Delivery provided it's still in stock at the discounted price.

The issue is not so much that it takes so long to "dispatch". With the Amazon warehouses goods are collected at certain times/days for different areas so goods for Ireland while ready to be sent today may not be collected till after the weekend/next week and it is only when they are collected by the post office/courier company that the clock starts on the delivery time. While it is in stock packed and ready for collection they will not mark it as despatched until it has left the warehouse dispatch area.

    Thanks for the insight.

Needless to say, I'm not well educated on the logistics of mass-product shipping.

I ordered some stuff from Amazon USA and it got here quicker than some of the wait times here.

My parcel went from Indiana, to Kentucky, to New York, to London then Dublin in about 5 days (after being prepared and shipped within the same day I ordered). Total delivery cost was $8.

Think they are gently hinting for people to pay for delivery tbh :D.

That's what I just did, since as of time of typing it still hadn't dispatched.

Ordered last weekend got dispatch email Monday pm arrived in parcel motel last night and ready for collection this morning. Original delivery estimate was Tuesday next week. Pretty pleased with that.

Yeah i'm done with Amazon. The slow dispatch, slow delivery, not supporting ireland with Prime features (I shouldn't need to use parcel motel or a vpn to look like i'm english to get the streaming service) and the Euro currency weakening makes this a website to avoid.

Do you mind me asking what kind of product it was ? as this may be something to do with the delay. ?

It was a computer game, been out a few weeks already.

Weird.. I know they got in shi*te a few years ago with shipping COD games before the release date before and they had to pay alot to the developers.

It can happen that something would be in stock or pre order and they wont ship it until they get the go ahead from the publisher etc.

    Just a thought.

Yeah it's not just that order, I just feel like the service has got worse last 2 years. Although the biggest game changer for me is the Euro currency weakening(something out of their control obviously)

I'd love Amazon Prime, if they fully really released it in ireland I'd snap it up.

Won't happen untill their 3p sellers increase as they dont see it as cost effective. FYI and inside tip, dont ever pay in euro, always pay in pounds as their currency convertor is not real time and also skims a bit off for them.

Yep, PayPal the same as well. Sneaky :pac:

Just as an update. My order was split into two packages. The first one has already arrived - a day later than the estimate. Second package has yet to arrive - estimated to be Monday.

As someone above has said - Amazon really isn't as great as it was. The Euro is extremely weak at the moment, and the delivery times are pretty poor. :(

8 business days seems to be a little bit harsh. Never had to wait for so long.

Was it been delivered by Asendia by any chance?

I have had 1 item take around 8 days from them to delivery it from Amazon and they lost my next order but got a refund and free 2 day delivery on my next order.

Amazon UK are getting ridiculously slow at delivery. I ordered something my husband wanted that I couldn't get anywhere else. It was in stock and says it's been dispatched but the delivery date is anywhere up to the 15th of May:confused:

I haven't found them slower lately tbh. Ordered a few items on the 4th, they were sent on the 5th and received on the 9th. Then ordered another item last Sunday that was delivered on the Tuesday which was super quick, all with the 4-5 day super saver delivery.

I've had sellers on amazon disguise the fact that they ship from china. that might explain the delivery date

Yep, sellers have 48 hours to ship a confirmed order but this can be adjusted its called the "handling" time basically sellers can chose to enter 10 days if the wish which will allow them 10 days to prepare the order before having to ship the item. That way they dont get penelised.

That wasn't the case with feedback I wanted to leave. Amazon won't let you post feedback if it's below 2 stars. It makes you contact the seller, which I did in that case, who were frankly, quite abusive and unprofessional. So feedback in that instance was pointless.

i had no problem leaving 1 star feedback. maybe it was because i had started a dispute

Both of my packages were sold by Amazon (no third-party involved). Both packages arrived a day later than the estimate. And the 2nd package had a whopping 8-working-day estimate anyways.

    What a rubbish service.

They're just a delivery service like An Post would be, Not a seller, It would say who they used to dispatched your items in your dispatch email, I asked because I ordered 2 items in March and they used Asendia to post them, First item was a 2 week wait when with An Post it was only 4 days then they lost my 2nd order
