Why is there another way to make stock and Gravy ? That's industrialised, But the principle is the same. Stock from bones, Gravy from stock and other items like skin left ever meat.

Never was a big fan of gravy.

My one experience with KFC involved a delayed flight, no where else open, and a need to eat. Absolutely foul and inedible stuff, even by the shockingly low standards set by other fast food chains. How places like that manage to establish a presence all over the world shows how little people think about the food they eat.

The gravy really is ****ing rank. BBQ beans are where it's at.

Drumstick smothered in grease is gorgeous. Should open the taste buds Angus

I wouldn't mind if it was made from the chicken carcass when they're prepping the portions. But this is effectively sludge scraped from the bottom of the fryer, after being heated and reheated god knows how many times.

KFC is the worst of the worst when it comes to takeaway food. Just awful, awful stuff and their places are always understaffed.

Nope, I would say from 1 day and it's prepared at the end of the shift for the next day I assume due to health and safety and all that. Yes does not look the best, But a lot of stuff that's nice looks rank.

A really good gravy should be a rich and decedant treat to compliment good meat. Not something you dip the most gross pieces of 'chicken' into at a plastic table, before shoving the remains into a bin. It's dreadful stuff and really bad value.

We are talking about processed food here. Don't ask what mechanically recovered meat means for example in food terms....

I only go when I feel a little bunged up in the bomb bay. A 15 minute walk to KFC- snack box, gravy and a drink.

Q's are always bad even when the place is empty but one (me), eventually receive food, sometimes even with eye contact. Sit and take 2 bites and realise how the thought of KFC and the reality of KFC are very different.

Half finish food, fries left 'til last of course, slurp away the taste with god sweet pop.

A brief walk in the shops and then a 15 minute walk home and good as gold, I'll be dropping the kids off at the pool as soon as I'm in the door.

About once every 3 months. Regular enough.

KFC is not a ****ing patch on Hillbilly's in so many dimensions, especially their gravy!

Just as I'm reading this it comes on RTE that a guy was stabbed in a KFC in Dublin.

Takes the 'I'd die for their gravy' to a new level.

I like the idea of KFC. It always *looks* nice and my other half adores it, though he doesn't eat it very often.
But whenever I've had it, it's been greasy, not crispy like it looks on the telly ads.
    And the chips are woeful.

When natives use every part of the animal, its noble. When westerners do it, its disgusting.

I look down on people who eat this kind of food, fair enough if you are poor, but if you educated, it really is mind boggling that people would put this stuff into their bodies

Ah Aonghus. Trying so hard not to be a bogger.

    KFC sucks though.

    Terrible, awful chips.
Gravy tastes like nothing in particular.
The chicken used to have a pretty powerful and distinctive taste, but not any more - they have reduced the salt and most likely other ingredients.

I much prefer a snackbox from my local chipper.

Better value from a chip shop too.

Every thread on fast food on boards is a race for people to say how bad it is.
    Although, supermacks really is shíte

I like Supermacs. Actually I think I like every fast food place.

    Another uppity bogger.

I will say that KFC is the worst fast food though. While super macs gets a bad rep because of culchie associations ( somewhat understandably) it's actually not as bad as you might think. But there are too many welly wearers for comfort.

KFC's chicken doesn't taste like chicken. Or meat. Or food.

I heard your hero Clarkson eats it all the time and because Oisin Tymon didn't have his beloved KFC waiting for him Clarkybaby got all huffy and started throwing his girlie slaps around.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Did any of you actually pay attention to the video / link at all and try and put it into perspective?

It claimed the rapeseed oil (probably the healthiest oil you can use in mass commercial frying) used for frying is replaced every 4 or 5 days. That really is not too bad.

How often do they replace the oil in your local chipper? In McDonalds where the chips were part fried and then dunked in a chemical bath first before frozen and distributed and what about other FF outlets? Anyone any links?

And does anyone really wonder what kind of base food is used when cooking FF? At least in KFC it is actually fresh (not frozen) pieces of real chicken that are coated and fried

Before you express disgust again, do a bit of research into what some of your chicken nuggets you buy frozen in your supermarket are :)

And no, I am in no way affiliated to KFC, I am no fan of them and I have food from them only a few times per year. But they are far from the worst when it comes to big US fast food chains
