Ubuntu install - how to I remove all data while keeping the os intact?

I'm talking about a secure erase as opposed to a format because I'm using an ssd. Is everything saved in the home folder? There is important information that is there including cookies that need to be removed.... Is it possible or are other system files modified by such things as firefox browsing? Thanks.

Why would you want to keep the OS intact? Just wipe it properly and reinstall

uuum settings? time constraints? time to restore data through USB 2.0....including large virtual machines....inability to run ssd wipe through wine or bios due to needing a CD drive....my CD drive is using an ssd module....
