On in Brooklyn April 11th,what do people think,Quillin is good but might struggle against a south paw with power in both hands, should be a cracker and hopefully another great day for sport in Ireland.

Can't see anything other than a lopsided Kid Chocolate UD.

Can't see anything other than a lopsided Kid Chocolate UD.

Like all of Lee's recent fights he has a punchers chance, that's about it.

I've always said Lee can beat Quillin and it's because Quillin fights scared. He's tentative and nervous and unwilling to take risks, and that's something Andy Lee can work with. A brainless brawler can knock Lee out because Andy has no inside game and his feet are cement blocks. But anyone hanging around at mid to long range he can catch. Hope he does it. Quillin is a knob.

    Nail on the head.

He's what I call a 'manufactured' fighter (an athlete rather than boxer) and looks so uneasy and nervous at regular intervals in his fights.

I'm not saying Andy is a cert, but I think he has a real chance here.

I think Quillin is too slick and clever to give Andy his chance... I rate Andy higher as a boxer than a knockout artist but he's not good enough to outbox Quillin.

Quillin might not be a top level fighter but he is still a level above Lee and will probably win a handy UD.

QuIllin is the kind of cautious and methodical and predictable fighter that Lee can maybe do well against. I am not at all sold on Quillin as a quality MW.

A lot of people undecided on Quillin, throw in that he gave up the wbo belt and that he hasn't fought for a year and it sure make this fight interesting, anyone on here going over.

Looking forward to this fight and like Lee's chances. It'll be a close-run thing and I'm curious to see what gameplan Booth will come up with. His tactics for the Jackson and Korobov fights were vindicated; neither was the hit and hope effort they were made out to be, instead Lee did exactly what he said he would do in both instances. He hasn't revealed the tactics for this one yet. I've never been massively impressed by Quillin but he beat a fighter in N'Dam who's better than anyone Lee's trumped, although he was outboxed for much of the fight. Lee won't be dropped six times and if he can gain the upper hand at the centre of the ring, there'll be nothing in it.

    I'll be there, can't wait.

Ya,am edgeing towards Lee,he was only ever knocked to the canvess once and that was first round against Jackson and in the fight against Korobov although he was well down on the cards most of the rounds were cautious ones and very little between them, ill also be heading over..

He didn't have a say in giving up that belt to be fair.

Quillin is sickening fu*ker. His interviews are painful to listen to. Even if there was no belt on the line I would be praying that Andy knocks him out.

I think, or at least hope, that Andy will have got a big boost in confidence from winning a title. It's a huge weight off his shoulders and his morale has to be sky high after it.

And even though it looks weird, fighting in that Booth posture might actually work for him as well. Fighting tall didn't do him much good because his defence was so poor. But putting all his weight on his back foot like that has finally given him some sort of evasive footwork and the ability to pivot away from his opponent.

That'd a radical improvement for Lee. I still think he'll lose 2 of every 3 rounds against Quillin, but I think he'll hang in there and have a decent chance of buzzing Quillin at some stage.

hopefully lee can get the job done but cant see it.

The more I think about it. The more I realise that no outcome here would surprise me. We all know Lee can bang so he's in with a shout of knocking out Quillin, who's not been in with a puncher like Lee. Although we've not seen a huge amount in terms of tidy boxing from Lee in while, he is a good boxer when he wants to be. N'Dam really gave Quillin a beating for much of the fight but Quillin's power secured him a win from knocking him down loads. It's not incomprehensible that Lee could outpoint Quillin.

That all said, I still favour Quillin to win but I definitely give Lee a chance here.

Very good publicity for this event. Two fighters were at the NYSE monday and Andy rang the bell!

Looking forward to a great atmosphere saturday and genuinely believe Andy can do it again. He's the Champ now and his confidence and experience should see him home.

The big worry is that Andy will be left needing his third straight hail Mary KO to win this one. He has never been able to impose himself and dominate a high calibre opponent and doubt it will happen against Quillan.

Wonder if Booth and Lee will change their tactics and try and walk Quillan down all night and try bully him. Against Rosado, Quillan started off well and was dominating until Rosado started going forward and putting Quillan on the back foot and pushing him against the ropes. Rosado could well have won that fight if he hadn't got cut.

This is major. He'll have to kill himself to shed one and a half pounds. Big advantage towards Andy. Quillen will definitely be drained now and good chance Andy's belt won't be at stake

Jeez 1 & 1/2 pounds is a hell of a lot to miss the target by. Pretty poor stuff from Quillen.

    Not looking good for Quillin.

Might be worth a punt on Andy Lee. Paddy Power has him at 9/4 with Quillin at 1/3. The odds haven't changed since this morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,836 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Surely he won't lose that much

Non title match! Shocking from quillin

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭Talib Fiasco

Yeah failed to lose it, now a non-title fight. Happy days for Andy in a sense, he' lucky though. Sometimes what happens is the guy who fails to make weight cannot win the title but if he wins the fight, the belt becomes vacant. All set for a Saunders/Lee fight although I reckon Andy and Quillin will fight again for the belt if Quillin wins.

Shocking from Quillin. Here's what he's had to say,

Quillen really doing his best to mess up his career these last 12 months. The lack of bottle shown in not facing Koborov and now this. Irregardless that he is facing Andy he deserves to lose.

How common would this be and how does it effect the purse?

Is this good or bad news for Andy? I thought it was good given he'll still be champion whatever happen but seeing a lot of reports saying it's a big blow for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,966 ✭✭✭Syferus

Great news for Andy. The big title fight at home is a near guarantee now no matter what Quillin does. And if Andy beats Quillin he has absolutely no recourse for a title fight. It's a free shot for Andy, regardless if the money is effected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭Henno30

Delighted. I despise Quillin and every step that brings the end of his pathetic career closer is cause for celebration.

If Andy looses is the title vacant or would he still hold the belt? Qullin is an embarrassment to the sport you'd hope he is actually drained and not just coming in overweight to gain an advantage.

    Belt isn't on the line.

I hope Quillin killed himself trying to make weight and gets taken out tomorrow night. The sooner the sport is rid of him the better.

Jono Carroll on Sky.I thought he looked alot better in his previous fights.

Hadn't seen his prize fighter win but he was obviously much too good although he clearly has a long way to go, especially on D. Can't wait for Josh Warrington, should be a straight forward night for him but he is always a treat to watch.
