I use dymatize iso-100, great profile, not much bloat considering I'm very bad with lactose and I've had great gains since being on it.

Stay away from high levels of soy as it gives men moobz

Stay away from olymp and trec, both crap Polish companies that use cheap Chinese powers

Cheapest Quality Whey at the moment without taking any discounts into consideration is Bulk Powders 59.99 for 5Kg unflavoured or 72.99 Flavoured

Table of different brands and prices here.

I thought Olympus health was an English company?

This has been shown to be false time and time again:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20378106
findings from a recently published metaanalysis and subsequently published studies show that neither isoflavone supplements nor isoflavone-rich soy affect total or free testosterone (T) levels. Similarly, there is essentially no evidence from the nine identified clinical studies that isoflavone exposure affects circulating estrogen levels in men. Clinical evidence also indicates that isoflavones have no effect on sperm or semen parameters

Soy is a great protein source. It's utterly revolting in protein shakes and I'd rather pour it into my ears than drink it again, but it's very good for you.

OP: You're not going to get good quality protein that cheaply. Most online providers are about the same, and they're far better value than anything on the highstreet; http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/impact-whey-protein/10530943.html

The natural chocolate is especially delicious.

If setting up an account with BulkPowders use referral code ATTVKB which will give you €5 off your first order over €15.
I bought a 5kg bag of their unflavoured protein a couple of weeks ago and paid €46.16 for it after a 10% discount following my first order some months prior.

I always buy the ultimate nutrition whey supreme from whoever is selling it on adverts and I think its delicious in both chocolate and vanilla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,191 ✭✭✭Dr_Colossus

Just to add I find the flavoured whey protein's far too sweet especially following an early morning workout. As such I always buy the unflavoured whey which works out cheaper per kg plus if looking to sweeten or make more palatable you can use a flavour such as:
    http://www.bulkpowders.ie/bp-liquiflav-50ml.html
Limited choice of flavours but have bought banana, strawberry and vanilla in the past and since you only use a about 4-5 drops per shake they last years.

You could always go half-and-half with flavoured and unflavoured. I found the Impact vanilla to be ridiculously sweet. The chocolate is fine though.

I posted this the other day but I recently purchased a brand called GO Protein in a supplement shop in Dolphins Barn. It is a new UK brand and its supposed to be very high quality. 28grams of protein per seving and it tastes better than any other protein ive tried (closest has been Gaspari). I got a 5kg tub for 55euros so I get 100 days out of it. Pretty happy with it so far.

Just buy from myprotein or bulkpowders if cash is an issue. Otherwise stick to a top brand like Dymatize or ON. You don't need 100% whey isolate btw, 80% is good enough. There'll be no difference in your gains.

I can only laugh when I see people paying huge amounts for what is marketed as elite high quality protein. Take the 80% and increase it by a quarter to get the exact same result as the 100% for the same amount. One born every minute.

If it's their Mega Pro Protein, then it's 70% protein, i.e. 28g per 40g serving. But there's also over 8g of carbs in that serving, which is quite high for a protein shake.

It's from Glanbia and recommended by a personal trainer in my gym. I'm happy with it to be honest.

Not ssaying you shouldn't be. Just pointing out that there are better options with a higher protein content and lower carb and sugar content and which are supplied by Glanbia.

2g of sugar per serving ain't bad and the other 6g of carbs is waixy maize which I was led to believe is good post workout?

Ingredients: Soya protein isolate, Whey Protein concentrate (17%), Calcium caseinate, Milk protein concentrate, MCTs (from palm oil), Waxy Maize Starch, Cocao powder (Chocolate flavours only), Maltodextrin, Soya lecithin (E322), Guar gum (E412), Chocolate flavouring, Conjugated linoleic acid (Powder 50%), L-carnitine, Green tea extract, Sucralose

Much better options - myprotein, bulkpowders, GoNutrition

There's little/no evidence, afaik, that suggests waxy maize is particularly good post-workout. If one was buying it on accunt of the waxy maize, they'd be better off buying a protein that has a higher protein content and using dextrose or maltodextrin post-workout if fast carbs did it for them.

But hey, I'm not telling you not to get it. You're happy with it. Just pointing out there are better options for straight up protein..

MyProtein is good. Chocolate, Chocolate Nut (or something like that), Vanilla and white chocolate are all good. If you're a student you can get a discount through Unidays.

Just bought from BulkPowders, and am waiting for the delivery. 5KG of Protein for 45 Euro.

Both sites always have deals on, check out their social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) for offers as well as their homepage. You can use referral codes for both sites and get money off as well. (For BulkPowders, add stuff to your cart first then checkout and create your account using the referral code). Both sites have samples as well, so you can test them before commiting.
