The Canberra PR.9 features on the Shannon site so that's one nice display act.

Great to see some new shows for the aviation community. It'll be interesting to see what develops with regard to Shannon, it would be promising if they could secure some of the better known acts.

No doubt EI-HUM and company will tag along to any semblance of an airshow with the same old routine for another year.

Hopefully some US aircraft bound to be something in on the day

That would be ideal. Hopefully some of the management down there made a few contacts given the amount of traffic that's passed through! Wishful thinking perhaps but I live in hope!

I am an admin on the Northern Ireland and Ireland airshows facebook page, and we are currently working on a website to cover all airshows throughout Ireland North and South. Was not aware of the Midlands flightfest, so thanks for that info :)

There is also to be an Armed forces day event in Antrim NI on the 27th June. While not an airshow as such, they usually have quite a few flying displays.

Bray has the following confirmed aircraft/display teams

    The Patrouille Suisse
    Strikemaster Display UK
    O’Brien’s Flying Circus

Team Raven are confirmed for Shannon and Rose of Tralee (16/8)

Foynes has a Mig 15, Team Raven & breitling wingwalkers confirmed. They are also working on (last I heard) a MASSIVE coup in a former RAF aircraft.

Why are most of the acts named just using the pilots name not the aircraft ?

Personally I wouldn't be going to see a pilot perform it would be for the aircraft type and I imagine most punters would be wowed by the aircraft too.

Anyway, nice to see a corsair and Canberra displaying, much better variety now.

Aircraft type is mentioned beside the names for the most

    ........
I would think the opposite, most punters wouldn't have a clue about aircraft, especially smaller stunt planes.

Ah now that's a little harsh, I for one would never underestimate the enthusiasm for aviation amongst the general public. Not been disingenuous, but its hardly like the pilots are household names?

I'm not making that inference either. I'm into commercial and military aircraft, for me those small stunt planes are just that. I appreciate the skill of the pilots and the drama of the display.....but I can hardly tell the difference between the actual airframes.

I have to admit, I'd be the same.

An aerobatic display would be applauded, but to me it wouldn't be a major draw. If, on the other hand I heard that a Vulcan (just to use a popular one on the wishlist) or a B-17 or something a bit more exotic than a Pitts Special then that , to me, WOULD be a draw.

I apologise to any and all stunt pilots I have insulted, not my intention

I find the Typhoon tends to be displayed too far away from the display line...

Not a typical Newcastle act . But saw them in Bray last year and they put on a nice display.

Been pretty bored recently, so I have been working on a small website for airshows in NI & Ireland to go with the facebook page as many had been asking about one. I hope for it to work similar to how Airshows of the UK website works, not connected to any show, but providing details of each show, news etc.

    https://airshowsni.wordpress.com/

I have been very careful to make sure it is known that the site is not connected to any organizers and is just an information website, linking to the official website of the show in each section etc etc.

I have used wordpress as it is a very easy interface, hopefully will have a proper domain sorted soon as a friend runs a hosting company. Thought I would share it with you guys before I put it fully live. Still a few things to work on for it.

That's a shame. But understandable given the age of the aircraft.

I am not expecting Newcastle to have more announcements at the end of May as NMD Council is currently promoting the Irish Open, unless the announcement comes from aircraft operators themselves and not NMD council
