Toning Up

Hi all, hope I'm posting this in the right place. Just a quick question about toning up, my upper body is well toned, stomach, arms etc but my lower body is a clothing size bigger and it seems no matter how many times I go to the gym it doesn't change. I'm in a rut about this and any advice would be appreciated! I have a well balanced diet, I don't drink alcohol often and I do a lot of cardio at the gym and I also do zumba classes so I'm wondering why it is so difficult to tone up or even lose weight from my lower body!

Do you mean belly fat or something about your legs?

Hi, I mean my legs. What excercises should I do to tone them?

Losing bodyfat is about making sure you have a total calorie deficit in an on-going capacity. You can't target specific parts of your body with different exercises (that works for building muscle but not losing fat). Exercise helps by burning some calories but it is a small effect compared to dietary changes.

If you want to lose fat on your legs you need to consume less calories every day. I can also guarantee you that you are probably eating quite a bit more than you think you are.

I think if you are very cardio focused that you should try change things up and do some lifting mixed with squats and lunges. Cardio approach hasn't worked so if you were to build lean muscle you could achieve a more toned look

You say you do cardio already. What exactly do you do? Is it running, cycling? How much distance do you do? How often do you do it?

Is it that you have fat on your legs that you want to get rid of? Or is it that your legs are too skinny for your liking and you'd like to muscle up?
