Welcome to the return of the F1 Competition

Please be aware of the slight change to questions this year, for the season opener (until we see what way the season is panning out!)

Entries must be submitted before the start of qualifying. No Exceptions.

Please ensure you answer all questions individually. Only one answer for each question should be submitted. If more than one answer is selected, you will not be eligible for points for that question.

Please also include your answer to the final TWO questions, what will be the fastest lap and who will be in the top three below.

Closest to the time gets an additional 25 points. In the case of two people posting the same time, or if there is an equal distance between two individually posted times, the person who posted first will be deemed the winner. Any edits to times made after 1 hour of the original posting/after commencement of qualifying will be disqualified.

The person(s) to guess the top three in the correct order, get an additional 40 points. The person(s) to guess the top three in any order, get an additional 20 points. These points are available to all, to a maximum of 40 points.

All results are final at the start of qualifying.

Question 7 requires BOTH Mercedes drivers to finish the race

Question 8 requires a collision of two cars resulting in either driver retiring from the race within that lap. This includes retiring from within the pit lane on the same lap.

It's more a pain to enter a non-table into the spreadsheet - the idea is to help the lads to calculate the scores easier.

No one has got it right so far!

I always end up having to edit mine after I submit as it never seems to show right the first time.

It's even worse trying it on your phone.

Commas would work for spread sheets. It's easy to convert them to cells.

Yes if you're reading a CSV file.
Not so much if you're manually copy and pasting. The table pastes into excel as cells with no user intervention, whereas commas would require a copy, paste, manually re-selecting each separated value, then copying and pasting it to the next cell over. Or more custom code, which I haven't had time to implement.

And also would require that everyone puts a comma in the right place, which I'm not saying they wouldn't, but it's easier to miss a comma than it is to miss a table.

To be honest, so long as the majority of posters use tables, it's not so bad. Manually doing 60+ entries would just take too much of somebody's weekend to do! Doing tables on your phone is painful, though.

Actually, of all the answers so far only Myrddin's is correct, the other two tables have two elements in the first box.

I find the easiest way is actually just to copy someone else's table and put < table > tags either side. The example in the OP actually puts | inside the table which I then have to strip out (but that's catered for in the sheet)

Just throwing it out there guys but if it's causing as much trouble as it seems to be why not get rid of the podium/time questions altogether this year. It's just a bit of fun afterall no need to be making it time consuming for yourselves.

Was just thinking of an idea to help, not make it time consuming... Was also done using old fashioned PC, can't imagine how it would be done on phone, that's just making it too hard...

Maybe it's just after the break, but I don't remember all this confuddlment over the tables last season The way I see it, is that if it makes the job of compiling the info that bit easier for the guys who compile it, then it's the least we can do

For those on phones, in the last step just type the TABLE /TABLE tags inside [ ] brackets at the beginning and the end of the text, since Boards doesn't show the Table button on the touch site.

It seems just like last year, people still cannot get the table to work because it is wrong in the title post. For anyone that can't get the table to work see below. This should work for you.

OP, can you edit the text in the title post and slot this table format in so that for every new round people should be able to get the table to work? It makes your job easier aswell, as everyone will have the table making exports to xl faster.

For people who are struggling with the table if you just copy this:

Then input your selection eg. replace "<Vote>" with "Hamilton" or whichever driver. No changing any 3s to Es or anything fiddly.

The reason a table didn't come up when I posted that there was because I used the [noparse][noparse][/noparse][/noparse] BB code.
