For those who have the morning off today, Zou Shiming is fighting Amnat Ruenroeng at about half 12 on BoxNation...should be a cracker. I am in the minority in thinking Ruenroeng will win.

I have the Mexican winning this. 10/8 first rd.

Looked like the Chinese guy dislocated his left.

I get the feeling this is going to end up as a robbery. Shiming is losing these rounds. I'd have to look at that knock down again, it looked a bit suspect.

I feel the same...KD was never legit. Terrible call. Ruenroeng is schooling him here...Zou having no joy and not throwing enough anyway.

How are you scoring this after 6?

5-1 Ruenroeng, 58-55. Zou has started to come forward and I sense Ruenroeng is tiring slightly but it hasn't been even close. KD is keeping Zou in it. You?

Same here. He's winning it on the jab alone.

He seems more focused on defence in the last few rounds so I just hope the judges don't gift Zou a decision on the terms of "running".

I had it 117-112 to Ruen and that was being kind. Delighted there was no robbery

Not great. Shiming isn't much fun to watch at the best of times, and when he's forced to lead he's worse.

Agreed, awfully boring fight. Zou pushed too far too fast. Never really thought he'd make a good pro, all hype I'm afraid.

Top Rank must be pissed, their Asia strategy is built for the most part on Zou s popularity.

Was it me or did 99 percent of the punches thrown miss?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 972 ✭✭✭Deiseboy01

Zou? Yeah, threw very little and missed with most really poor display.

How did Foster score that fight a draw? Shocking.

Has this Fielding guy ever fought a live body? I keep seeing him in with stiffs.

At least we have the Thurman fight to look forward to later, ill be watching it tomorrow morning but looking forward to it, could be a cracker.

You're spot on though, even now the man is 70 and looks very fresh. Isn't his girlfriend (maybe wife now) like 40 years younger than him and an absolute belter? :p Top man.

Luke Blackledge and Noe Alcoba are pretty decent fighters. Other than that with the exception of Prizefighter, Dilks and Adamu every fight has been an excessive mismatch.
Dilks and Adamu were also mismatches but those were good fights for him for the point he was at in his career.

I like the look of Eggington btw, I reckon he'll do a job on Singleton here and start to liven up this card too, because it has been a bit ****e.

The more I think about the more I think we could be in for more upsets tonight. We have had two this weekend already (well from he media point of view anyway) but I actually think the Ghost could beat Thurman.... I severely doubt he'll be KO'd by Thurman and you never know he might shock us. I still would put my money on Thurman to win but you never know. With Broner/Molina anything is possible. Molina looks great, looks very big and could be massive come tonight...Broner of course was over weight and with all the stuff that's been happening to him in the last 4-5 months, God knows what shape he is in physically and mentally.

I don't see that as an upset. The Ghost will set a frenetic pace, takes a very good shot and is awkward, as well as a very good southpaw boxer.

Yep you're right...but everyone seems to be picking Thurman (myself included). Should be a great fight, I hope it lives up to what I think it will be like.

What's been happening with Broner? Don't follow boxers private lives.

I haven't been following him much either but I did see a video of him that he recorded with his phone a few months back where he seemed high, very depressed and almost suicidal. He also apparently put on a sh*t tonne of weight after his last fight and clearly he couldn't shed it in time...that plus the fact he's probably the most hated guy in Boxing after Floyd, it's bound to have affected the guy. I must sy it is probably deserved as he is very cocky but it's dead clear it is an act to be like Floyd. It is a shame because he is ridiculously talented.

Eggington came across very well in the interview. Can't believe he's only 21. I'll have to keep an eye out for him again. Entertaining style too.

Not as much as an individualised well constructed S&C program, but then again most boxers S&C work isn't great, so it might be a decent improvement on what he's done before.

With that said I haven't exactly seen what he's doing. Most boxers have quite a bit of kyphosis (rounded shoulders) which would make doing things like kipped pull-ups, handstand shoulder presses, muscle ups and most exercises performed overhead (snatches, overhead squats etc) a pretty bad idea due to the demands and stress they place on the shoulder joint.

That bad loss v maidana must have hit him very hard, I always thought he was a confidence fighter, but probably a little mentally weak based on his hero worshipof Floyd etc. That loss could have shattered his ego. Anyway amateur psycology hr over!

Saunders, yet another MGM fighter, Macklin must be making good money.

There's a 24/7 type documentary about tonights card online and it showed that he was focussing on explosiveness and intensity rather than traditional S&C per say. It makes sense in terms of flexibility.

I'll try and get a look at it, I can't really make a proper comment until I do.
Some things utilised in crossfit training, alongside appropriate mobility work could indeed make big differences to a fighters performance.
Other things will merely increase their risk of injury and provide little ergogenic effect.

Something was a bit off about it aswell, Coyle didn't seem himself. Maybe it was the knockdown, maybe because he probably pre-rehearsed a post fight interview for the first time ever, but it just didn't seem natural.

Campbell dispatches Coyle with absolute ease. I love watching Coyle fight but he's British title level at best.

I was surprised by the decision for that very reason. If there was one set of judges you'd have thought Bob would take care of it'd be that one.

The Asia strategy looks a bit silly anyway when Al Haymon has nearly taken over the whole damn sport in the meantime.

No way coyle v campbell sells out a stadium, the crowd tonight seemed pissed off with the coyle fight, cant see 15k more of them forking out to watch campbell bury coyle inside six rds.

I think Coyle is being set up to fail against Campbell. Would love it if he could pull it out of the bag as it would be a huge setback for one of Hearns golden ones.

True. I know Haymon has a background in the music business, wonder are Jay Z and 50 Cent really into promoting or are the working for Haymon?

Think Beyonce sued Haymon so maybe not but its a little suspicious!

Would like to see Campbell progress, seems a decent skin plus for some reason Coyle gets under my skin, really don't like the guy.

Haymon won't allow his fighters to face Roc Nation fighters so I think you can rule out collusion between them. That was the whole reason behind Peter Quillin turning down a $1.5 million payday to face Matt Korobov.

Adrian Broner, who's advised and essentially promoted by Al Haymon also turned down a 5 year $40 million deal to sign with Roc Nation. If they were working together, they've certainly gone to strange lengths to make people believe they aren't.

I'm a big fan of Coyle & he is good to follow on Twitter. Not sold on Campbell (as in that he is a world class fighter) but he should have too much for Coyle unless Coyle can drag him into a brawl (which is highly unlikely)

They're definitely not working together. Roc Nation won't last pissing time in the sport by the looks of things. They've just waded in waving the chequebook around and seem to have no strategy whatsoever.

Falling out with Top Rank by signing Cotto was a ridiculous move. They've barely arrived and already the two biggest players in the sport won't work with them. You could survive without one of Arum/Haymon, but not both.

Thurman-Guerrero was very good. Impressive display form Thurman, but Guerrero underlined his warrior credentials after the knockdown. He is one seriously tough individual.

Broner-Molina was awful. Molina was diabolical.

I didn't think so. The bit about Hearn liking Luke more may have been a wee bit awkward, but other than that it seemed good.
