3D with Mac VLC

Can anyone tell me how I to play 3D files through my TV using the MAC version of VLC (or an equivalent piece of free software)? There's plenty of tutorials online but they're all for the Windows version, and I can't seem to find the same settings in the Mac version. Thanks.
