Have you gone to a professional who said you need to get one?

I have, though he did not recommend a suitable person

I've had 2 scopes with Paraic Murray in the Galway Clinic - best ortho guy in the west according to my GP - he went to him himself. Only does knees so you're seeing a real specialist. Very nice guy too and takes time to explain everything to you. Highly recommended. You'll need to get MRI done before he'll see you so get your GP to book you in for one.

Is he much more expensive than the others?

If you need to see him again make sure your GP says you were already a patient of his before when he's writing the referral. €100 for previous patients ;)

Do you mean a patient before, of the GP or of the ortho doc? What if he doesn't remember you if you didn't visit for a while?
