May I ask what foam lance have you got as some are really useless.

Foam available from HERE >>> Snowfoam

I have used Cotton Candy and found it quite good, There are good reports ofn the 50 cal foam as well.
I am sure Curran will be along to advise.

I buy all my stuff from http://www.mrdetailireland.com

Some great stuff and good deals regulary

    As above really...
Cotton Candy is a good mix between dwell time, cleaning ability and value for money.
50Cal Ambush or Combat are as close to touchless washing as Ive tried..but touchless is impossible
Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is the next on my list to try, and plan to be able to try it next week.

Is Combat that good? And still LSP safe?
Any news on getting bigger sizes?

    Hi

It's a lance that came with the Karcher power washer. Seems like extremely good quality. How many car washes will you get out of the bottle of 50cal and cotton candy? They seem to look very small

Edit: This is the stuff they had http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0154/7939/products/snowfoam200_large_1024x1024.png?v=1335533305

While they will foam ( a little)
they will do nothing compared to a proper foam lance.

That looks more like TFR ( Traffic film Remover )
    They remove more than dirt
I would feel safer not using it though I have no experience with it.
I prefer to stick the renowned products.

Yes. Our friend Randy Hickey posted about it a while back. I gave it a go, and I didn't find it great. I forget how he got on. It foamed well at 10:1, so there are enough foaming agents in there, but cleaning ability limited, as snow foams go.

Also gave some Chinese clay a go, as you do :pac:
€3 or something, so not much of a loss. But still a loss.

Have been using Orchard Autocare Cotton Candy Snow Foam for nearly a year and find it good. Leave it long enough to work though, I think some lads fire it on and wash it off after a couple of minutes. It needs time to work.

Just a question about the Karcher snow foam lance. Will it not even produce decent foam if a quality liquid is used?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Nope; they are not proper lances - they are more spray devices. You can buy the thickest snowfoam available and they wont produce the thick foam that will dwell on the car.

The proper lances have a metal gauze that the water and solution is forced through, and its is this that produces the thick foam.

See how, at best, the foam is very watery - will drip off the car in about 15 seconds

Verus a foam that is much more like shaving foam - this car is probably well coated with some protection, so it will be harder for foam to dwell on this surface, but will be much easier to clean too!

    Apologies! :o
99% of people that use the forum purchase the domestic washers. Was that thrown in as part of the deal? As thats not a Karcher part.

Ambush is the more powerful cleaning snowfoam, but Combat would be better suited to regular weekly washing.

Cotton Candy should be back in stock next week.

How many washes very much depends on how much you apply in the lance bottle - some people prefer really thick snowfoam; I dont like it shaving foam thick, as I like it to run into all the shut lines, etc, so dont put in as much as some people. But Combat & Ambush are 500ml bottles and should get you 8-10 washes. Cotton Candy is 1l and good for up to 20-25

Found that it foams up really nicely but that it didnt have as much cleaning ability as I'd like it to have. Though, that said, it was generally used on cars with no protection on them, so perhaps it performs better on a protected surface which would be easier to clean.
Got through the large bottle I had, by using it mixed with APC when I was doing pre-washing for preparing the car for claying, etc.

seantobin43, who did you get the washer off?

The link you provided is to the *using my best american accent* "Foam Cannon", so it's strange.

Ultimately, that's a good lance. Unusual that it would be sold as a Foam Cannon, with the washer, in Europe. But I am aware of guys on ebay maybe...

Vectra - is it the regular scrabble or the travel scrabble you find better?

Sorry, I'm thinking Father Ted... I mean regular vp snow foam or the ansf?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭seantobin43

myshirt, thats just a picture that i found that looks like my foam lance is all. I bought my power washer out of the Karcher shop in New Ross Wexford

What are you using for a wash?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭seantobin43

After browsing around the internet ive noticed that everyone complains that sponges scratch the surface of the paint! Ive always used sponges and i just thought it was the best way because i know brushes are sh*te for bodywork. I was looking at getting a microfiber hand mitt on ebay, is there any special brand i should get or does it even matter? haha

Also what do ye use to dry your car?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,245 ✭✭✭myshirt

A sponge will just move grit over and back and over and back, scratching and dulling your paintwork. Unfortunately it's true, and not just someone gone mental.

In terms of a wash mitt and drying towel, get on over to Detailing Shed website and pick up a Microfiber Madness Incredimitt and a Microfiber Madness Dry Me Crazy towel. You won't be disappointed, quality product, quality guys, they won't sell you crap.

Any questions, just shoot, guys on this forum are great to help.

I was using Mr. Pink shampoo which I loved but I drained it yesterday, I now have another gallon of wash I bought in a group buy in the UK
    Krystal Kleen Cherry wash.

    Must see how it goes.

That foam lance is going for 35 pounds on amazon. But they won't send to Ireland. Would they price match it.

What make is your power washer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,245 ✭✭✭myshirt

£35 sterling works out at about €52 with over the counter exchange rates. Then you have delivery. They are a quality lance to be fair, so if you are going to hit the trigger, do roll with one of these.

Looks the exact same to me as the AB foam lance. The description says
"This is a heavy duty pressure washer snow foam lance and one litre bottle to suit a Nilfisk Alto domestic power washer trigger gun. Please do not be fooled by the lesser quality snow foam lances available, this will last much longer"

Cant be anything wrong with it for the price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,245 ✭✭✭myshirt

It looks the part anyway... but there are a few knock offs going around. Ultimately the original lance is by PA in Italy, with the Autobrite one being a PA lance rebranded. The build quality of the PA lance is guaranteed A-1.

£25 delivered is not bad if that lance is of good quality though. Post how you got on if you go with it. As alternatives, you could go with DirectHoses in the UK, or this guy who is also good ----> http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/pressurewasherpartsuk?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

What all these guys are selling there is definitely a step up from the crap lance you get standard, no doubt. But bottom line is they are all trying to copy the original lance, which is also a vote of confidence in the lance :pac:

Is it easy to get parts if they break

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭seantobin43

There is nothing really on a lance to break. Its mostly brass, but the nobs and the bottle are plastic.

Only problem you'll have if you leave it fall and the bottle might break but its very strong plastic, mostly it would just scratch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,115 ✭✭✭✭cena

Can I trust that site? Anyone here use it before
