New Mac Mini user with a question or two

    After much thinking about it Im finally going to dip my toe into the world of the Mac with the purchase of a Mini. It comes with 4 USB ports and I was wondering if it can be expanded with a powered USB "7 out" hub from the likes of Belkin?

    Also, how are these specs for music production and a general workhorse?

    Mac Mini 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5

    4GB memory

    500GB hard drive
    Thunderbolt 2 ports (up to 20 Gbps)

    HDMI port supports multichannel audio output

    Intel HD Graphics 5000

    An external hub will work fine. I'd beef up the RAM of possible. Other than that I do video editing etc on mine, and its fine.

    The Mac Im being offered only has 4Gb of Ram and as far as I know it's pretty difficult to upgrade it yourself?

    The newest Mac Mini isn't easily upgraded anymore, but all previous generations are. If your Mini has a black circular plate on the bottom then its one of the easiest RAM upgrades you'll find. Literally twist it off and put the new RAM chips in. Takes less than 5 minutes with no tools.
