    Hi guys !
We are currently thinking about furnishing a new open plan kitchen/living/dining area. We like the style of furniture in Bo concept / Soul shops but are finding their prices a little bit more than we would like. Are there any other furniture shops with similar contemporary style sofas etc that are more reasonably priced and would suit an open plan living area?

    Ikea!

Thanks but we have a feel for what ikea can offer so we're hoping for other suggestions too!

Thanks for the pm before stra....lots of lively pieces there and not off the wall prices either....do they have a showroom?natural instinct would be that buying these kind of pieces would be risky without seeing in the flesh!good website though...

    Hi Marcus
Don't believe they have a showroom. Most likely how they keep the costs down. The bed and lockers I purchased are top quality so I'd have no worries about not seeing in the flesh before I buy.

We had only good experiences with Made.com. They only have showrooms in the UK but between product pics and "real life" pics people post on their site it's easy to get a feeling for what the item is really like. Their styling is modern and gorgeous.

Swooneditions.com is another similar site, but they add £40 to shipping to IE, so we never got anything from them (this may have changed in the few months since I checked).

Thanks for that link....very nice stuff there and exactly the kind of alternative we were looking for.....prices seem reasonable even with the exchange rate...Made.com charge for delivery dont they?your post suggests they dont as you dont buy from swooneditions because they do......whats the quality like, in particular for sofas? Have always felt it was risky buying seating off the net without physically sitting in it and seeing the colour in the flesh but have many people done that here and has the stuff met expectations?

Made.com do charge for delivery but they charge the same for UK or Ireland. Swoon editions add £40 to their regular UK shipping (or at least they used to) if you want them to ship here.

We're happy with our sofa but yeah you can't try it out beforehand so it's a risk! They are quite a safe bet for me when it comes to lighting, tables etc. though.

Some items can be shipped immediately while others may take weeks to be made, so pay attention to delivery estimates!

Ah right that makes more sense now....hmmm, its a bit of a risk alright buying on line.i think youd really need to love the look of it and have exhausted options in stores here before taking that kind of risk. In saying that if you end up saving 100s on the equivalent style and quality in a store here then maybe its worth a punt from somewhere reputable like that crowd seem to be...

Yeah I wouldn't be concerned about quality with them, it's solid stuff and really well finished, but if you're the kind of person who needs to see it in person it's tricky. I can see where you're coming from, I can buy furniture online but clothes or shoes I absolutely need to try on first.
