What do you collect?

Interested in hearing about what other people collect....

I have collected various things in my life, such as key rings, Simpsons figures and now I have a small collection of guitars.

As I have got older and have a bit more disposable income, I tend to reflect on my youth and have a tendency now to collect things from when I was growing up in the early 80's. I have my eye on a Raleigh Chopper amongst others.

I used to collect soaps, hairslides and necklaces when I was younger.

I don't really collect anything now.

I have 18 pairs of football boots. I always get them cheap. I bought three pairs of the top grade adidas F50's that were 190 down to 19 each.

    I can't say no to a bargain

Do you display these or have them accessible somewhere? I tend to think that most people 'collect' things by putting them in a box and setting them to one side, not for viewing..... I know most of the things I have collected are now in 'storage' in the attic

    Watches.

Started with a digital, then a diver quartz. Then had to have an automatic, an automatic chronometer, a manual winding chronograph, the quest continues.

I've thought about collecting Warhammer Fantasy stuff but always figured it'd be too expensive and I'd have nowhere to put them.

    Fluff in my bellybutton.

Where it comes from is anyone's guess, it's usually a different colour to whatever top I've worn that day.

Edit: just realised this makes it sound like I keep what I find in there, I don't, that'd be weird.

    Have some pointless Monday trivia:
Navel lint appears to migrate upwards from underwear rather than downwards from shirts or tops. The migration process is the result of the frictional drag of body hair on underwear, which drags stray fibers up into the navel.

    Cigarette lighters.

I unwittingly collect other peoples cigarette lighters, anytime i have a night out I'll always find at least two lighters in my jeans the next morning. I have amassed a fairly extensive collection at this stage but there is no sentiment attatched to them,I'll happily dole out lighters to anyone who asks.It also makes me feel less guilty about my drunken thievery

Warhammer stuff is very expensive nowadays. I used to collect it but now I've shifted over to Warlord Games's Pike and Shotte (17th Century) and Bolt Action (WW2) stuff. Much more economical, plastics work out at around a quid each and metal about 2 quid e.g a squad of 10 metal German infantry is £15 and a box of 25 plastic Germans is £24.

Atari games. Anyone wanna get rid of some, I'll take them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,689 ✭✭✭Tombi!

The WW2 stuff does sound interesting enough and it sounds fairly cheap.
In terms of the painting and all, is it difficult? I figured with Warhammer if you mess it up it's not gonna matter by much.

Comics, not to sell them or to hope they go up in value but because I enjoy them. Most of what I get these days is electronic but my parents attic is full with boxes I have collected over the last 20 years. Looking forward to opening them up for the kids in a few years.

Also tshirts, never an intentional thing but myself and my OH would go to America every year and stock up on clothes and every year would have more and more tshirts in the case coming home. Had about 300 plus last time I checked, mostly branded (DC, Hurley, etc) but also ones from gigs I have been to, comic characters, and wrestling ones.

It's not too bad. There are loads of online tutorials and olive or grey uniforms don't cause the same problems that bright fantasy robes or goblin skin can.

Books- I really love to find old cookbooks, sewing manual, books on etiquette and gardening. People's diets were horrible back then
I also collect vintage clothes and records. If I had lots of money I would probably collect works of art and antiques.

If you're just looking to collect them, paint them and display them then don't bother with any one company, just buy models you like the look of. There's even loads of companies who don't do any of the game stuff, just producing interesting models.
