yip I listen 11-12 when I can, though not religiously as I used to on the old station.

I kind of got bored with the made up topics, "text us now what are the top ten things women have in their handbags" etc I have yet to hear one segment on the new show that wasn't already done to death on the old one

having said that I will still dip in for the laugh.

Cannot listen to CB at all

Ah, 10-11 is better especially when there's a 'controversial' topic and they get some of their mental regulars on the blower.

Nikita, that mad religious Cork aul fella, mad Breda...

Yea I listen every morning. The 10-11 hour is always the best. The Random Hour is poor. It's just Jeremy acting thick to wind people up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

I hate when they pretend something's happened but it's clear it's just to start a topic.

For example, recently, Jeremy was saying how he saw this couple kissing in a cafe and he was so disgusted he marched right over to them and told them to stop.
Adrian was giving it all "That's disgraceful, Jeremy. Honestly. Let's see if our listeners agree".

It's obvious they sit around thinking up stories just to get callers.
Having said that, I do like the show (ha, I know it doesn't sound like it!) but I cannot stand that Lisa one ("Well!"); her voice irritates me, but Breda cracks me up.

Ha. Funny you should say that. They recently had a Facebook post about a cinema in Buncrana banning '50 shades...' because of a protest.

I threw in a link from the Irish Times showing that this wasn't the case at all. It was deleted (I imagine by king troll Jeremy).

I posted it again, deleted, again, deleted and I'm now banned from commenting on their Facebook page. :D

    what station are they on?

    98FM in Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

The Random Hour will be on in half an hour. Wait til you see; Jeremy will have a story and they'll make it a topic for callers.
Bring back the Whats on your Chest section...this Random Hour is just another slot for Adrian and Jeremy to talk about what THEY want.

When they moved to 98FM they used Get it Off Your Chest for a while but FM104 threatened Legal Action as Get It Off Your Chest was their thing, hence the creation of the "Random Hour".

    Another old favourite is
Jeremy: I went to the deli today for a sandwich, the girl that went to serve me had tattoos and piercings. I asked to be served by someone else

Adrian: what, god that's such an a-hole thing to do, what do you think callers?

funny though- some oul one on now talking about 50 shades, should be good. There was an oul wan on before rapping, Saggy Diddy, Jeremy christened her.

Yes I would have thought it works like a basic employer/ employee relationship. If I come up with the iPhone while working for Apple I can't just move to nokia and bring the IPhone design with me

I wonder why D'Arcy seems to have been allowed some of his old baggage with him to RTE eg Email Bag?

Because TodayFM don't consider it of any value; and/or because the idea was nicked off RTE in the first place lock stock and presenter (Mailbag was a long time ago but some people still remember it)

They are on 98FM every Monday to Friday both 10am to 12pm and 10pm to 12am.

There has been no break in service other than Christmas.

Yes I remember it, barely. That was a bad example as yes it did start on RTE, what about Price Watch, Aggie McKensie also there was a stop smoking piece that followed a few people that were trying to give up, this started on todayfm but was followed up on the RTE show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,186 ✭✭✭✭L1011

It may also depend on contracts, depending on what way Ray was contracted to provide a show to TodayFM may not have given any transfer of rights to the station. The other possibility is that Communicorp are preparing to go after him for it, of course!

Does anyone know if the Dublin Talks night show is the same as the morning one? I used to listen at the start but found it was repeats of random shows rather than the morning one

Sometimes it's a direct repeat of the morning show or it could be a random repeat. The reasoning behind is if the morning show is popular causes alot of buzz on social media, they try to capitilize on it by repeating it.

If it's not creating a buzz they repeat a random show instead.

There was mention of a court injunction they're personally held to on the show the other day. Adrian said the case was four years ago but didn't say what it was about. Anyone remember?

Yes I am aware of this.

Yes initially they did two live a day but no one would expect them to keep that up, it would defeat the purpose of moving out of 15 years of night time radio to do a morning and a night show

Resurrecting an old chestnut again, "Bisexuals are just greedy" wonder how this will go? Probably the same as the other 20 times I've heard it from this pair.

they moved but it is still going 10-12 mornings and again at night but this seems to be a "best bits" rather than a repeat of the morning show.

But Jeremy said it's something they've never talked about before on the show :P

They said that about almost every topic, especially the Women Driver debate he brings up at least once a month.

Jeremy/Adrian always have a little story to tell at the beginning of the Random Hour, which they just-so-happen to turn into a phone-in slot.

    So contrived and staged.

This Breda/Bosco is one of the most consistently annoying regulars. I really hope she's an actress.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 262 ✭✭qt3.14

The regulars are the weakest part of the show. It can be actually interesting when there's real people on but Jude/Nikita et al are such blatant stereotypes that it's not worth listening to.

I'm just tuning in now, so I'll listen out for him.
Maybe it's also the same guy who rings up claiming his name is Precious.
He's as Irish as they come and sounds about 15.

haven't listened in a while but tuned in this morning, one of Jeremy's "friends" says he won't date a woman with a kid....an old favourite, cue some young lad who agrees and a barrage of single mothers saying "how bleedin dare you...."

good to know some things never change

They always seem to have the same skangers people ringing into that show everyday. Its like Jeremy Kyle but a little tamer but all the participants have the same low IQs

For about a year. The night time "show" is a repeat, and not even guaranteed to be a repeat from that morning.

Are you sure that the later show was a repeat - although I have only listened for about 5 minutes.

If it is a repeat shouldn't they be saying things like ' this show is a repeat, if you call or text you will be charged but your comment won't get read' every once in a while?
