I want to like sam smith, in some ways I do, but I turned on the radio the other day and heard about half a second of his voice and it literally sounded like a whine.

I used to hate Charles Pettigrew from Charles and Eddie but then he died and I felt bad.

There's something about Mick Hucknall's voice that makes me want to kick kittens and small babies.

Sam Smith's voice is really whiney - very annoying. Dreadful music.

I'm not a fan either. She has a strange stylistic quirk to her singing style that I can't quite explain, it's quite an odd sound.

Ian Curtis of Joy Division is another. Horrid voice.

Love Will Tear Us Apart is only a good tune because of the genius melody and what they did to Ian's vocals in the studio. It became a hit in spite of that tone deaf twit doing his best impersonation of a depressed Jim Morrison. If you were none the wiser you could be forgiven for thinking that the following is just some drunk who got up on stage at a a some 80's manc Karaoke party.

    Hootie and the Blowfish

Counting Crows (I once threw an alarm clock radio out my bedroom window when I was hungover and they came on)

    Nickleback

    Tracy Chapman

There's something about Mick Hucknall's voice that makes me want to kick kittens and small babies.

I had the "pleasure" of sitting beside him in first class on a flight from London to Milan back in the 90's; I was traveling with work. He was dressed from head to toe in clothes the same colour as his hair. He refused to make eye contact with me for the entire duration of the flight, would not engage in anyway.

Flight was stuck on the runway in Milan for 10-15 mins before disembarking and I had the "pleasure" of listening to him talking to some woman on his phone about how he couldn't wait to see her and to help herself to wine and food. I had this icky image of him singing "If you don't know me by now" to some model-type young wan as he took off his orange blanket-clothes.

I saw him on some program last year and the same mental imagery came flooding back.:o

    My word.

My partner went through a phase of listening to Florence and the Machine. Why does Florence shout when she sings? Why won't she calm down?
