I've been looking through all of the countries that have yellow registrations and drive on the right but I'm not having any luck.

You say this area is owned by another country. Does the country that owns it also drive on the right? And do they also have yellow registrations?

I don't mean that it's owned by another country. I mean it hasn't always been a part of the country it belongs to now. Guess the country and the famous person should get you the answer

Yeah comes across Latin american to me.
I wouldn't rule out South America, and street view coverage is poor across most of Central America. Mexico maybe.

More specifically it's Kealakekua Bay, which is where Captain Cook was (allegedly) the first European to set foot in Hawaii and also where he was killed by natives a few years later.

The bottom picture looks very like a spot on the Milford Road, NZ, not too far out of Te Anau, but I don't recognise the top one. Maybe it's around Glenorchy? Looks like NZ anyway?
