Ulster 7-5 up after 15 mins.

Ulster have had all the possession so far but Edinburgh scored a breakout try to take the lead. Pienaar scored and converted his own try to give Ulster the lead at 7-5.

    Missed Edinburgh pen.

But niw they get another chance after Ludik was pinged for holding on in the ruck.

Bright start by Williams, Henderson and McCloskey

Edinburgh 8-7 Ulster after 18 mins.

Pretty meh so far from Ulster.

Plenty of possession and plenty of territory but Ulster's ball retention is letting them down at key moments here.

Some of Pienaar and Humphreys passing hasn't been quite on message.

We are lucky Heathcote is so dodgy

That's 8 points missed by Heathcoate so far. For all the possession and territory we've had we should be 16-7 down.

This is a defensive muppetclass by Ulster. We are just standing off them. Edinburgh make the yards it takes us 10 phases to make in 3 phases.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,417 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Stuart McCloskey is such a talent, pace, strength and can kick!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,876 ✭✭✭✭bilston

Silly penalty from Henderson. Didn't need to touch the 9.

    11-7 Edinburgh after 30 mins

No intensity here at all. It probably doesn't help playing in a stadium 1/20th full.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,876 ✭✭✭✭bilston

    Good kick by Pienaar

    Edinburgh 11 - 10 Ulster 35 mins gone

FFS Edinburgh get a pen from the restart.

That was pathetic by the Ulster forwards there, 3 of them failed to clear out an Edinburgh player.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,417 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    14-10

    Terrible breakdown protection again .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,876 ✭✭✭✭bilston

Some scrappy play there. But great tackle by McCloskey and then breakdown play by Ulster.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭shuffol

That type of play from McCloskey will have Schmidt rubbing his hands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,876 ✭✭✭✭bilston

    Just go away Humphreys.

Such an infuriating player. How we miss Jackson.

He is still a bit of a rough diamond but he looks like he is made for the Irish midfield.

I'd love to see a McCloskey-Henshaw midfield at some stage.

Could well see it at some stage, but most likely post WC. I don't think McCloskey is really on the radar for now.

    Yet another Cave try. ;)

Ulsters best 13 by a distance.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,417 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

McCloskey red. What a total farce of a call. FARCE.

The amount of times Ulster get fcuked over by referees is becoming a joke.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭shuffol

Hodges is a joke of a ref.

    what for?

  • Administrators Posts: 54,417 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

That has infuriated me. Yellow card sure but not a red ever and no doubt we'll see loads of that in the next year that all end in yellows.

Complete and utter disgrace of a call from Hodges.

Tip tackle. Thing is it was a ruck and the player's head was pretty much on the ground already just lifted the legs.

    Rotated man in clear out.

Tried to put a guy off his feet at the breakdown so lifted his leg and turned him beyond the horizontal. Player was in no danger though. Extremely harsh.

Henderson and McCloskey off the pitch. Time to switch over to Leinster.

Yellow for the tip tackle alright, should have been yellow for Williams too.
    Detest that chop tackle.

If what McCloskey did was supposedly a red then Pape should never play rugby again.

That is how ridiculous the call was.

Wow this ref really does not like Ulster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Sinbad_NI

How many penalties are we going to concede in this game. Few of them have been harsh but still far too many.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,876 ✭✭✭✭bilston

I could easily get myself banned for life from Boards right now...

For the referee? I am biting my tongue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Sinbad_NI

And there we go. All over now. 13 men aren't going to do much.

Looks like Ref wants Edinborough to win but don't think they want to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,365 ✭✭✭ongarite

Looks like they can hang on. Unreal if they do.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,417 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Ulster win despite the best effort of Hodges.

Right this is taped on the box.

    Worth watching?

That was one of the worst I have seen. Genuinely do Ulster have any recourse here?

Is there a way to put in a complaint?

    Hodges is a total farce.

    No.

First half crap, second half the Hodges show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Sinbad_NI

    How did we win that.

Edinburgh rubbish, Ulster not much better.

    Ref truly awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

Ulster can make a complaint. Hodges is pretty established so probably won't get far with it or much out of it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭shuffol

Amazing to think Hodges got to ref one of the semis last season. Consistently terrible ref with a poor demeanour too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,166 ✭✭✭S12b

Didn't watch....how did Henderson and McCloskey go (red card aside)???

    Watch it for a laugh

Hodges tried his best to give Edinburgh the win. Edinburgh not interested and turned down the chance.

Game summed up in two sentences.
