Stobart's 42 that is still used for Regional is from 1990 with the single (I think) older 72 from 1991.

Correct both 42's are from '90 and both 72-200's are from '91. In some cases older than the aircraft the pilots trained on! The brand new '600s pretty much still have their Christmas wrapping on:D

I fly Stobart fairly regularly, is there an easy way to tell what kind of 72 youre on?

Likely its the -600, as they fly the vast majority of stobart routes. If your going from DUB-KIR, or DUB-IOM you would have an even chance of ending up on a -200, which I think doesn't have the full green livery.

I fly DUB-NCL and vice versa, and has always been the green livery.

I thin Stobart have just two 42's, both -300 series. CBK and EHH, the latter of which doesn't have the full livery, bar green engine cowlings, rest of it is just plain white vanilla. They primarily operate the Donegal, Kerry and sometimes Isle of Man sectors, amongst others.

Unless it's changed, the 200s have extremely low seat backs compared to the 600s. The 500s aren't usually used for EI ops

200s have four blade props, 500/600 have 6

But thats the 42, the question was the 72. The 72 never goes to CFN.

Steady on there. I wasn't contradicting or disputing what you were saying, I was just adding to your post with regard to a -200 series with no EI livery, by stating that they had two -300 series ATR's, one of which is EHH which has the plain white colour scheme.

how long is the deal for the 75s ..

I asked my mate, she says B757's contract extended to 2020 and some DUB based cabin crew have been trained for it. I assume the 4th aircraft needed more crew to operate on it

They now have info on their site about the 767 for SNN-BOS- looks like they are working to address some of the problems from last year

The livery is alot better for a start.

A personal pet peeve of mine is the 767 being blocked on FR24, but that doesn't matter to 99.99% of people.

That livery is indeed an improvement on how that B767 looked last year.

I hope now that someone in Aer Lingus or IAG doesn't get the idea it's a good idea to change the livery on all the fleet as part of a make-over.

We don't need another Euro white minimalist colour-scheme for Aer Lingus like almost every other airline in the world at this stage.

It's an Omni thing rather than a 767 thing. AFAIK none of the Omni fleet appear on FR24.

Spot on, all Omni aircraft blocked on FR24.

Im gonna assume this is due to their frequent troop charters for the US military.

You would be correct in that assumption.

Its not completely blocked, it shows up on the radar, just the airline, reg, picture or anything identifying it other than the aircraft model is blocked.

Think FR24 is the only one who block it, but the other sites aren't the same haha :)

So far no current IAG A320 orders have been allocated. However EI were evaluating their own shorthaul fleet replacement order....perhaps we will see that requirement being meet with a new IAG order over the next 12-18 months.

This would be interesting to know but i don't recall there being any announcement regarding who's getting what and if EI are to get any at all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 267 ✭✭zone 1

so if AL are looking into short haul fleet upgrade looking at things IAG seem to look at AIRBUS with 200 plus on there books.. was it at the time good deal for AL back around 1994 to switch from BOEING to AIRBUS .. i mean at the time they were flying 74s and and 73s...would the A321NEO for east coast america be option...

Talk of 3 Vueling A320 hired in for Summer 2016

IAG pool everything together and are moving to a single aircraft specification to ease inter airline exchange

EI need to get the A321 fleet and the C reg A320 replaced soon. The older A330's will get replaced by the A350

A321Neo LR if it appears might replace the 757's but who knows

Looking at the current EI fleet, their network and their location the A321LR seems tailor made for EI.

I remember being told at the Aer Lingus Cadetship interview, by one of the pilots, that IAG are taking ALs 350 orders for BA and they were looking at 330neos for AL. That was back in October, so things may have changed since then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 267 ✭✭zone 1

well there was always talk of the 330neos, is this just example of IAG been able to move planes around there different airlines till more orders go in for aircraft.. id hate to see AL lose out on the 350s for BA benefit..

So does this essentially mean BA, Vueling, Iberia and EI will have the same seats, cabin layout/config and galleys and they will just paint the appropriate livery on the outside of the plane, and distribute as required ?

    Pretty much yes.
