Macro confusion

Hi, I'm looking for some advice regarding macros. I'm a female, 5'5 and around 9.7 stone (haven't weighed myself in a while). In the last few months I've starting lifting and have seen some gains in my arms and shoulders but feel that I might be able to get better results (lose fat/gain muscle) by changing around my macros. I've used the scoobyworkshop calculator and based on my activity level and goal it says I should be eating 1839 calories per day. Up to this point I would average maybe 1500 calories a day at a push but with high protein and fat levels and low carbs as I have read in so many places that carbs are apparently the route to all evil and should be avoided or kept to a minimum. My question is does the calorie total sound high for what I am wanting to achieve particularly the daily carb allowance (194g carbs / 34g fat / 116g protein) and what are good sources of clean carbs other than veg, oats and brown rice?

    Thanks

Firstly carbs are not the devil they're made out to be. There's always some new thing to demonise every few years to give people a reason for their weight gain. People love excuses.

Anyway it's going to be very difficult to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time unless you're a beginner. Calorie amount seems fine. You could always try go high carb on workout days and low on rest days if you see it as an issue.

Try the plan for a few weeks and see how you get on.

Clean sources of carbs... sweet potatoes. All of the sweet potatoes. So good. I'm sure there are others but I enjoy sweet potatoes as mine!

There nothing wrong with regular potatoes either imo.

I endorse this product or service.

Have been busy converting two of the fussiest eaters I know. Well, getting them to try sweet potatoes and they ended up McLovin them.

Hanley shared a good podcast called Sigma nutrition recently (here or facebook i'm not sure) but a recent episode (#43) spoke about nutrition in great detail.
