On ears were actually 79euro last week.

Still think the ATH M50s are best value for money.

Canelcamelcamel says no, unless you've some proof to say otherwise (hopefully you do and they might drop again).
I was checking all of these last week, and was about to buy the brown ones (€98) but noticed they were out of stock, and expecting stock on the Sunday... which turned into Monday... which now turned into "We'll email you when they're back in stock".

The HD 598's were about 80 euro for the Black Friday sale.
I got a pair myself and they are stunning headphones. They've constantly dropped to around 100 euro on amazon.fr over the past few months.

Also delivery is not free, it's about 10 euro.

The momentums will only drop further in price due to the release of the new wireless momentums

Apologies, didn't know that. Assumed it was free being amazon and over a certain price threshold.

Not sure about that. People are very divided on wireless cans.

The wireless momentums also come with a removable cable, best of both worlds.

Yeah they're exactly what I'm looking for, hope they drop to a reasonable price soon.

On topic that's a great price for the original momentums. Excellent headphones, small ear cups aside.

Those over ear ones are stunning. How would they be vrs a Bose pair in terms of quality?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭BrianJD

Also how do you buy from this site? Can it be translated?

Two options: use Chrome and it will translate the page or open the UK version of Amazon side-by-side with the Spanish one and go through the buying procedure. All Amazon's are laid out exactly the same. Indeed on most product pages you can switch between the sites by substituting the country code in the web address.

OPTION 2 worked perfectly as I was in my phone. Thanks!

There's no comparison. Bose are massively overpriced and the momentums are vastly superior in sound quality.

I have to stop buying speakers, headphones and earphones, and you guys aren't helping.
There's a marriage at stake here.

I just bought them on Amazon UK for 85 gbp the other day, still with delivery charge not too wide a gap. They were in todays deals

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭CJmasgrande

I see there is a new wireless model launching in a few days maybe this is the reason for the price reduction.

Is this true? I bought the Bose ones and I find them outstanding. Have you used both?

Just made my purchase. Hopefully they're in stock etc (says they are, but you sometimes never know). €5 postage from .es to parcel motel, so €9 total postage.

I had Momentum Over ear for few months. For me Bose QC15 sounded Crap compare to Momentum. The details and sound stage on Momentum over ear is unbelivable. I did find though that ear cups were a bit to small for over ear. Ended up selling them and bought Audio Tecnicka ANC-9 for it's Active Noice cancelling. They don't sound as good as Momentum (but close) but excellent active noice canceling and beat the crap out of Bose QC 15/25 in Sound quality.

If you are looking for natural sound with just enough Bass and excellent mids Momentum over ear is for you.

I remember when I bought a pair of Sennheiser IEM for 50 bucks years back, thought they sounded amazing compare to the 10 bucks one I had before. Then few years later I got a pair of Klipch X5 for 90 bucks on half price sale. First time I started to enjoy music rather then listen to it.

So Bose may sound excellent if you compare it with your previous headphones perhaps. With Bose QCxx you pay premium price for the Nocie cancelling tech. not exceptional sound. But if you need excellent noise cancelling then Bose is the choice. If you want near excellent noise cancelling with excellent sound then Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 is my choise. Bought them a moth ago and really impressed.

Bu none of the above can compare to Momentum over ear Sound Q. You hear every detail in a song basiclly, and it's pure joy :)

The new momentums feature a bigger ear cup and active noise cancelling so they address your issues fully. I'm really tempted just to go for the new 2.0s instead

Lads I really need some good headphones but was thinking of waiting til the wireless momentums drop in price as I would like to use them on Ps4 as well. Should I just get the wired over ears at this price or hang on?

If someone is looking for an USB DAC for his new headphones, fell free to PM me. I just finished to build my DAC based on ES9023 chip. Since I had to order a certain number of pcbs, I have a few of them for sale. Some details:

    - Based on ESS SABRE ES9023 DAC chip
    - Ultra Low Noise Voltage Regulator and high capacity ceramic capatcitors
    - Input - USB 16-bit/48kHz
    - Output 2.5 jack for an amplifier or headphones
    - Dynamic range 112dB, jitter-free, 1.9V RMS
    - No drivers required for Windows
    - Works great with Raspberry PI with LMS & Squeezelite or RaspyFi (sounds better than my SB Touch)
    - No drivers required for SOME android devices (tested with Samsung S4)
    - Small size, short PCB tracks and hence very low disortion

Sounds similar to Dragonfly DAC V1.

Before I buy these, can someone tell me if they keep in the sound well? I've seen a few people say that when you're wearing them you can hear some background noise, but can people sitting beside you etc. hear what you're listening to fairly easily?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,183 ✭✭✭UnknownSpecies

Got my HD598s for over 200 a couple of years ago, so I'm very jealous of anyone bagging them for less than 100! Amazing headphone, the soundstage is second to none compared to what I've listened to. Only thing to be aware of is that they leak sound like crazy when the volume is up (obviously to be expected from open cans but some may not realise just how loud). As in, I couldn't use these in the college library at any sort of volume without being a distraction.

Edit. FAO people who have already bought them. They come with a 6.3mm jack and a loooong cable. I ordered a new shorter cable with a 3.5mm termination for better portability. This is the site I dealt with, great service and product. http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/custom-3.5mm-termination.html

    **Over Ear Version **
Yes a good seal , u can hear some external ambient noise ( Noise Reduction not on this version ) but with very little if any "Leakage" at all ...use them myself with high volume music in a open plans office with no issues

Which model do you have yourself?

The over-ear Momentums..have since 1st available ...love them I used in ear Senni IE 7's before hand good but the Momentums are great all rounders , as I listen to all types of music from Jazz to Noise Rock and Techno .

I have also an old pair of open cans HD595 for home listening but even they are getting dusty as you can wear the Momentums for long periods no problem. (If you think you may have big ears it maybe best to try on before purchase )

For all things headphones the most pop review and forum site would be

Really good pricing, I have the original momentums and the 598. Personally it's the 598 all the way at home, better sound and comfort. It's the momentum when out and about. Bose for travelling.

Just got new wireless momentum and they are pretty sweet but not sure they are better than any of above at anything in particular, just more flexible. Slightly more comfortable than original momentums, not as nice as 598s but lack of cable goes a long way comfort wise for watching movies for instance. The noise cancelling is good, not sure it beats the qc20 or 25 but it's pretty nice. Kinda weird that it's always on though. Folding makes them slightly more carryable also.

All in all it depends what you are looking for I guess...

Got a set of Momentum Over ears today. They're fantastic, well worth the money!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,911 ✭✭✭Simi

I've had mine for nearly a year now. Well worth the money. I tried a pair of HD598's for a few weeks beforehand, but they were too clinical for my liking (amplified the flaws in mp3's, making them impossible to ignore). The momentum's are much more forgiving of mp3's and have a more natural sound in my opinion. Can't recommend them highly enough. They have smaller than average ear cups though. They're a tight fit on my ears & it took a while to get used to them.

Got my ON-EAR ones there last weekend. Cant say anything bad about them really. Nice crisp clear sound, and a decent base. Daftpunk sounds awesome on them :D

They're a slight bit uncomfortable with glasses on, but ill be glasses free in a few months so that wont bother me for long.

I got the White and brown ones from Amazon.es for €99 + about €10 postage (including parcel motel). They've gone up in price, but still some €99 ones out there:
