my subcard points failed to register onto my card even though I used it in store. sad times.

made one or two trips down my local barbers to find it was shut when it's usually open, only to find out later it was closed for good and now I have to find a new barber with whom I must place my trust not to butcher my hair ;-)

    any FWPs grinding you down?

I arrived at the self service checkout at Tesco the other day with a load of groceries, scanned them all through, and as I went to pay I realised I had forgotten the pin for my debit card, so I guessed and entered it incorrectly three times. I only had enough change to pay for a litre of milk and a packet of crisps. I was happy with the milk and crisps.

I was in Kerala for a few days and wanted to stay a little longer so I could visit Cochin and do a tour of the backwaters.
The plan was to get to cochin from Iritty on an overnight sleeper bus on Friday and then get the 10.55 train from Chocin back to Tiruchirappalli Junction on Sunday night so I'd have enough time to do a tour, visit some touristy places and still be on time for work Monday morning.
Unfortunately 1st and 2nd AC classes were both booked out and heaven forbid I slum it in 3rd AC, so I had to just give up and go back to Tiruchirappalli on saturday from Thalassery as originally planned. And now I can't decide if I just hang out in Tiruchirappalli for the day or drive to Tanjore for the afternoon.
    Life is hard.

Wait, am I doing this right?

Why do I have to give so much money to 3rd world countries?

€5 per month. Really!? That's a pint right there.

The local village shop is out of that NZ Sauvignon Blanc that you really love and you fancied drinking on Saturday night; you have to settle for the €9.99 bottle that's really only ok with food.

    Keeping it car radio themed:

My car radio was reset when I changed the battery and I don't have the key code. While I wait to fix it I have to use my phone to stream radio stations and play them while I'm driving.

Don't bother getting a new barber. You know that'll only close down too so is it worth the heartbreak?

My first world problem is that it's my birthday and I'm in my parents' house. My brother is wrecking my head.

Spent €200 on a new one

3 weeks later she broke the screen

Spent another €200 on another phone.

4 days later that screen broke.

Spent €110 getting both screens fixed :(

Our heating was broke over the winter, it was so cold we could see our breath. Now that it's fixed, if i leave my beers out on the counter they get warm, so now i have to remember to put them all the way in the fridge. FML

If I play the Xbox for too long then the PS4 above it warms up, turns itself on and ejects the disc tray.

    Ha!

Although you probably shouldn't have the vents blocked on the Xbox.

To paraphrase Adam Smith, a person's finger pain outweighs the cataphrophies on the far side of the world. Given this is the age of the individual, the PC term "First world problem" loses any semblance to a grounding in reality. Hence my FWP of outlining the obvious on an online discussion forum.

Very true. Been to various parts of the third world over the years, it's defo an eye opener, can't help but feel a little but guilty about the way things are when you get back.

I visited some of the worst slums in Manila, Philippines last year and I was shocked at the grinding poverty, yet despite these people having almost nothing they wanted to share their gruesome meals and food with me and welcome me into their shanty shack homes. I really admire their stoicism despite the bad cards they are dealt in life.

First world was the West and it's allies , Second world was the godless commies , CCCP , China and everything the other side of the Iron Curtain.

    US vs. them

everyone else was the third world , sort of the poorer non-aligned nations

When did this become a thing?

When the cold war ended. It's a geo-political term which refers directly to the cold war.

First world = "the west". The US, EU. Australia, etc.
Second world = Soviet bloc + china, cuba, etc.
Third world = unaffiliated countries, ranging from super rich Qatar and Saudi Arabia to super poor Mali.

It never made sense and it makes less sense now that the soviet union doesn't exist any more.

So true. The reality is, no matter how much we whinge and moan about how tough things are here, our problems aren't problems at all, more like little inconveniences.

We don't know how lucky we are.
