Guys it would be best to start a new thread to discuss other boxes, this one is specifically for the 153 ( as per thread title) will become useless otherwise.

Hi Tony, yes sorry you are correct, and of course there are many good threads covering all types of boxes here on Boards.Back to the Ariva so far no joy with any of the streams I have tried but will put a bit more time into this week. Thanks

It expects a file called iptv.txt. That file contains your iptv urls with the service code above. If you have an m3u you can edit with notepad and save as iptv.txt. Save to USB.

You then import the iptv.txt using the my IPTV app within the menu.

Hi folks. Wondering what the latest firmware file with full IRL & UK channel list is? Box ran into a problem so I reset it. Lost all channels and it looks like I've a long night ahead unless I get a nice neat upgrade file!

    Help would be much appreciated.

    Sorted.

The 153 has no extra functionality unless you want to explore IPTV . The ariva 4k has lots of extras but I'd suggest starting another thread or reply to one of the existing ariva 4k threads to discuss that further.

Hi All, I just got the 153 setup. I’m trying to use the pause function, however only the picture pauses, the sound keeps going. Do I need to add a hard drive or something?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,353 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Yes you need to plug in a USB stick or drive.

Thanks. Is there a minimum memory a USB stick should be?

No, as long as it has a decent transfer speed it will be fine.

I bought an Ariva 153 combi and spent several hours on YouTube trying to tune Saorview & FTA. I'm surprised that FTA (which I don't pay for) works perfectly while Saorview (for which I've paid over 20+ years) doesn't work properly for RTE. The box seems to be picking up RTE on 698.000MHz/DVB-T and is a bit jumpy - rather than TV3 on 666.00MHz/DVB-T which is great. Apologies but I'm a total newbie to this - what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Your aerial (picking up the terrestrial channels) needs to be aligned or upgraded, or else the connections on the cabling need checking.

Are you using a set-top aerial? Then all bets are off re. getting a decent signal.

Try to position it in or near a window facing your preferred transmistter. (Frequencies you gave in an earlier post would suggest Spur Hill, Cork?)

Thanks for the helpful info. Thurston? I re-positioned the aerial and was able to re-tune the channels and they're back again. Yipee. Next challenge is to connect wifi and use the record function... that's my day planned:)

Really happy with Ariva 153 except for a minor glitch that it freezes sometimes. I'm not sure what's causing it as it's not connected to wifi (at least when I try to connect to Youtube I get "Network is not available" message). Also the record and pause functions don't work with USB. Any ideas appreciated . Thanks

Is it freezing on satellite channels, terrestrial channels or both ?

I find if you were after moving channels around/creating groups etc, you need to restart the box otherwise channels will freeze the odd time. I never got Youtube working on the ariva

Backup your channel list first to the usb stick first.

You'll need then need to update the firmware for the 153

Unzip to a usb stick. Go to menu and upgrade the software allcodell+bootloader.

Then you can upload the channel list using the same menu but choosing just channel list rather than allcode+bootloader

Anyone got an updated channel list knocking around?

Anyone having problems with RTE One & Jr. The picture keeps breaking up and freezing. Started a few weeks ago.

    Any suggestions?

Most likely a problem with your aerial

Probably should have said in the original post. I've another box running from the aerial (triax) and RTE One is working fine.

Would it need to be re-tuned/scanned etc?

No, in that case its either a cable or connector issue most likely . To rule out the box as the issue swap them around.

Could be that the signal is borderline too, so much so that the sensitivity of the tuners is coming into play. Especially if he is trying another box at the same location (assuming both boxes are looking at the same dvb-t mux frequencies !!!!)

Tried the box in the other room today and there is no issue.

Must be a cable or signal problem. Any suggestions for someone with limited knowledge of this kind of stuff?

I think I've messed mine up. Re-downloaded the channels yesterday and now have about 20 Channel 4s in a row at the start of my channel list and all the other stations are all over the place.

From reading the thread is there a file I can get that will order them some way sensibly, or even part way and I can use the 'move' key myself?

This week's lesson...leave the bloody thing alone.

I have a weird problem with my RCU650 remote control. I love it because it controls my Ariva STB, TV, and HDMI switcher. But many times when it hasn't been used for a few hours, e.g. overnight, it doesn't work no matter what you press. It still flashes a purple transmit light, but won't control anything. It's as if it has "crashed". Sure enough, popping out a battery for five seconds makes it work again. I'm pretty sure the batteries are ok.
