Well the team will be on a high after the weekend , will we come crashing down to earth at anfield ?

Very tough game. They are playing well, anfield is a very hard place to go to for any team and sturridge is almost back.

I would be delighted with a draw here and to be honest i expect us to get beaten but with the way we are playing at the moment then we could get something here

Same team that we started on Saturday with

I'd rip your arm off at the shoulder for a draw.

If we go at them like we did against Arsenal, we'll win this. They are very shaky defensively, and there's no reason why we shouldn't be looking for the 3 points.

    2-1 to Spurs again.

I think we only have one way to play this...press high and fast like Arsenal and Chelsea games.

Any other style looks uncomfortable to us and when we play slow with men behind the ball we always look shaky

I fear our excitement could get the best of us, we tend to be brought down to earth with a thud.

Saying that though, it's hard not to get excited after beating Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks.

Tuesday is vital. With the Europa starting next week we need to get as many point on the board as possible. Also, with us not playing the weekend of the cup final, the table could look very different come the second week in March.

    We owe Liverpool a smashing!!

Ye certainly owe us a beating anyway. What is it 12 goals without reply in the last 3 games? :p

    Walker, Dier ,Vertonghen, Rose,

    Mason, Stambouli

    Chadli , Dembele, Eriksen

    Kane.

    i'll have a punt on 2-2...would love a win.

Sure we destroyed Leicester City in the 1999 Worthington cup Final.

Can't see Chadli been brought in yet ( much yo the detriment of my FF team)

Bentaleb was brought back in ahead him at the weekend so I expect him to start ahead of Stambolui.

Lamela put in a shift but should be rested. as should Rose... sturridge, sterling and Coutinho will destroy us down the right (our left)

Is this on the box ... I know it'll be streamed somewhere but is it on sky/BT (setanta)

Liverpool are waiting on the fitness of Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana ahead of their pivotal clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Lucas is out for a month too.

Tough one, I'd take a point

Lallana is more than adequate cover coming in for sterling or Coutinho but if they where missing 2 of them 3 that would be great news for us.

agree about rose... mason was onfire against arsenal and chadli over lamela too... lamela did nothing in derby

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭PVincent

Unfair stick on Lamela guys. He put a serious shift into closing down players. Whilst he is still struggling to find a pass and have some influence, his work rate fits the balance of the team, which is why he is being picked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭h2005

Lucas is a massive loss for Liverpool. I'd be happy with a draw but it we could nick a win it'd be a massive step towards a champions league place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭kookiebrew

chadli is a better allround player than lamela...got us some important goals this season too... Think he would be better against pool... lamela is defo one for the future though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,449 ✭✭✭jobeenfitz

2-1 to Spurs, of course. I think it Eriksen's turn to score the winner this time.

Is this game make or break for our season? Unfortunately I think so...

We've only beaten these once in last 20 meetings at Anfield, if I'm right. I dont expect a win from this one. We simply cannot lose though. Minimum draw is essential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭kookiebrew

I think when we play liverpool it can either be a 3-0 win or a 3-0 loss... Always plenty of goals and a good open game... Our defence seems to be tightening up lately too so I'll be goin for a 1-1 draw...

Plus, looking at the fixtures. Arsenal and United have very winnable fixtures tonight.

If they both win, we lose to Liverpool and then we stumble at home to West Ham (get a draw) after our Europa match. By the time we play our following PL fixture we could be 9 points off United and 7 points off Arsenal (albeit with a game in hand). Though it's those kind of gaps you don't want to see open up at this critical time of the season - it'll be terrible for team confidence.

I did not realise this. This game is probably the most significant one we've played to date this season. Largely due to the Arsenal win.

I hate it when Spurs gets our hopes up...

Do Southampton not factor into this?

Exactly. Pool probably hit form, hammer us 3-0 and it's doom and gloom again

The joys of being a spurs fan

They do. Though they have tough fixtures coming up and I'm of the opinion that they will drop points in the coming weeks.

While Man United and Arsenal have improved since the start of the season and are coming good at the right time, as they have done for many a year. United's next three are very winnable fixtures.

I don't understand this make or break stuff. If we lose this and win our next 3 we'd be flying.

3 points from games against Arsenal and Pool is acceptable. 4 is good.

Not sure, but I'd say he'll get the nod.

He's looked sharp in the bits he's played since returning.

Probably him up front with Lallana and Coutinho in support.

would love if coutinho was out also, without him and sterling the pool would be pretty boring in attack

We can't really be hoping other teams are missing their best players, would be great but we need to be going out playing our own game no matter who is on the other team.... And after all it is Spurs end up losing to weaker sides and break our hearts lol

It's a match against one of our 'top 4' rivals and just before we start back in to the Europa League (which impacts our PL points return).

Win tonight and we COULD go 3rd, though we will most likely stay 5th and keep pace with the top four.

Though lose tonight and we will most likely go 6th and have 7th place breathing down our throats as our fixture lists starts congesting.

A draw is a great result tonight...

i can see us nicking a win tonight, i have a feeling in my waters that we are hitting a bit of form at the right time

Yeah, so it's an important match. Lose, and our chances of top 4 will be less.

"Make or break" means if we win, we're in and if we lose we have no chance.

It just seems a bit overused, like when Sky are talking about "must win" games in October.

    we're better than them
we're higher in the league than them
    we've got no injuries
    we're in great form
    we will win this
    COYS

Those defeats to stoke palace and hull could be crucial to our season now...all games we should have won easily....at least we seem to be on the right track now, Thursday night Europa league hangovers are killing us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,003 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

Tonight is Liverpool's third game in six days. It is very difficult to play a high tempo pressing game when your midfielders are hitting 30-33 Kms hard running in six days. With confidence high in the Spurs camp and even the benefit of the early versus late start on Saturday this is as good a chance as Spurs will ever have to beat Liverpool.

A win would be absolutely massive. With only 13 games left after tonight Spurs would be 7 pts ahead of Liverpool and, although people have mentioned that Utd have winnable fixtures coming up, they have an horrendous run from the middle of March to the end of the season. Arsenal will definitely get third based on remaining fixtures (I know anything can happen but law of averages...) That leaves Spurs, Utd and Southampton battling for the last Champions league spot. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but last Saturday was the best performance I have seen since Bale left.

    COYS!!!!

Last season we won most of the games we should win and we got hammered by the better teams.

This season it's been more of a mix. Unfortunately it's very hard to go a season without either.

The pattern definitely suggests Europa League hangovers, but we've rotated massively for Europa League this season, so that excuse doesn't really hold up.
