I've never done anything like this before so don't really know what to expect to get from it, It's a PLC course in Sligo

Ive not done any of these courses, but did look into them. Judging from my own research of this kind of course, it is a rubberstamping exercise that gives you the very basics of personal training so you can obtain insurance. The whole fitness industry at the moment is overcrowded, with training organisations churning out fresh graduates every 18 weeks or so. If it is something you have a real interest in, go for it, and then use the qualification as a springboard into a career, but dont expect to line up a job straight off the back of a course like this. Its a tough industry.

Did one myself and thought they were very good at introducing you into the fitness industry. Lots of physical learning also. Small classes aswell so lecturer has more time to teach you. You learn how to test people, the basics of weight lifting, dancing to music, circuit training etc. My course also offered coaching courses in soccer and GAA. Mine was only a year but gave me knowledge on how to eat right and exercise properly. I intended to use that as a springboard into the fitness industry as a career after an engineering degree with no job perspect. Lucky enough I got a job the Summer I finished my Sport and Rec course as and engineer and currently still at that, but the one year course did stand to me in my personal life and improved my sporting performance as I had a bit more knowledge. I know if I did go onto to do a higher degree the Sport and Rec course could of aided me in the higher course.
