Triple H revealed during the opening segment of Smackdown that he would be delivering an announced that will “shake the WWE Universe to its core.”



The announcement is related to the “controversy” of the Royal Rumble finish, which the Game addressed during the segment.


The announcement, he said, will “end the controversy.”

I just seen the opening segment of Smackdown and my first thought was "Triple H is a Face now?" It was the most "good guy" Ive seen him in what seems like years.

There was the bit at the end where Reigns said "Ive won the Rumble. And Im going to Wrestlemania"

Triple H came back with "You have won the Rumble (pause) and you face The Big Show right now". No mention of Mania back by him so I think big changes are afoot with the main event.

Thoughts?

I've not gotten around to watching the Rumble as yet. I wasn't in much of a hurry after the slating it got! What was the controversy aside from Reigns winning ?

Any discussion as to where they were going with that?

I thought the other day a new rumble at fast lane would be an awesome idea. Helps create a buzz for the ppv and if they build reigns right he could legitimately win it again

I dont know what it will be, but i bet it will be long and tedious.

I reckon because of Rocks interference, Reigns will have to win another match at Fast Lane to keep his spot.

Possibly against a returning heel Sheamus, who is a loose ally of the Authority, he's destroying Reigns with J&J/Kane & Big Show, Bryan makes the save thus setting up his match v Sheamus at Mania. Reigns keeps his Mania spot but is 'endorsed' by Bryan and WWE get their Bryan v Sheamus match again with the heel/face dynamic reversed from last time.

Based on this Triple H is definitely turning Face and some part of the Rumble will be re-done or some serious changes made that will affect the main event at Wrestlemania.

I think, for once, the hype about an announcement on Raw will be backed up on Monday and then some.

I honestly wouldn't be getting my hopes up; at best, they'll use The Rock's interference to run a second title-shot match, but even then, would be shocked if Reigns doesn't win still.

To me though, this screams "We know you're angry but please, please don't stop watching"....but it will be a bait and switch. And I can't see HHH turning when he's in the middle of the Sting feud...

Triple H is not going to be a face, he is scheduled to confront Sting at fast lane and then go into Mania for a match against him.

WWE are just trying to keep the momentum going and feeding the appetite amongst part of its fanbase for the idea of change.

That interview above and his Smackdown appearance could only be more Face if he told the WWE Universe to take their vitamins and say their prayers.

A Face turn is definitely coming because Im betting the Mania match will be pitched as "Triple H defends the WWE's honour. Sting defends WCWs" as he keeps referring to Sting "not belonging here"

Pretty much the plan at the moment.

Seeing as The Rock interfered in the Royal Rumble, Triple H will reverse the decisions costing Reigns his title shot at Wrestlemania, that would be my guess.

This would cover the "let's re-run the Rumble" option nicely and any of the 20 competitors can still have another separate match on the bill.

Would a Reigns V Rock angle work?

Roman must defeat his cousin and friend The Rock to keep his title shot. If Rock doesn't agree to the match than Roman is fired from the WWE, maybe put Rusev in the mix.

Although the fans might crap on Roman when he pins the Rock!!!

I just want to see Rocky in action tbh!!!!

I listed it but cant see it happening at all. After the boos Rock got by being with Reigns by proxy at the Rumble I can see him giving WWE a wide berth for at least a year, maybe two.

Id imagine his many PR advisors are strongly telling him to do the same.

I think the announcement will be based around giving Reigns another go with the fans to try and bring them on WWE's side for Mania.

Something like his Wrestlemania main event will be up for grabs as he had Rocks help so he didnt deserve it. They will do the usual Authority thing by pretending to side with fans as its best for business. Roman comes out and says he earned it. They will say Rock helped you and all the fans didnt think he earned it too. Cue fans booing Roman as usual but to the casual viewer it will seem as if people are being cruel to Roman as well as the Authority doing their usual bad guy thing.The Authority will say look, they dont think you earned it.

This way they hijack the boos from people who realise he needs a lot of work in his wrestling and make it look like people don't think he earned it as The Rock helped.

This way he seems an underdog prevailing against the odds.Basically the John Cena blueprint that they think the casual fan likes.They want to bulldoze it through the hardcore fans and have it somewhat like Cena as they dont care what we think, only what they want us to think.

Then he goes to Fast lane and has a Gauntlet match against Axel,Kane and Big Show to keep his spot.He wins and in their eyes "earned" his main event spot. He has been through the battle now the war with Lesnar.

The hardcore fans see right through this John Cena blueprint but they think the casual fan will view him as having somehow beaten the odds and now will have a big fight with Lesnar.

Of course it might be a 4 way or gauntlet match or 3 way but it will be made to look as if he is the underdog.Everyone loves the underdog,right?

They should turn him heel and fight with Bryan for the spot but I think they will keep Bryan well away from Roman as it will only remind people of Bryan going out early.They will put Bryan on opposite sides of the night (just like smackdown) on PPV or RAW and try to make it look like they are not in the same league.Roman tussling for the title and Bryan tussling for moral victories against someone like a heel Sheamus or opening Wrestlemania with the yes chant and a great match against Ziggler.

To me the whole thing is sad really as we like Roman but he needs more time and this is really Bryans time as he puts on super matches...........I hope I am wrong though!

It's the 'Cry wolf' question. Do they genuinely put out a big announcement, or do they simply use it for a heel swerve. If they use it for the swerve, genuine big announcements will be harder to build for. On the other hand, if they're using this to deflect bad press from Rumble, they only have a week to come up with something truly shattering and I don't know if that's enough time.

I'd hope for a brand split, but that would have nothing to do with what's going on.

I was baffled by the thoughts of a brand split, but honestly, it might actually be a good idea; have a "Sports entertainment" show, with Cena, Reigns, Show, etc. And have a "wrestling" show with Bryan, Dolph, Cesaro...basically, just put all the "internet darlings" on a show and let them say "Well, we're pushing them, aren't we..." while having the A-Show be the show they want to do.

It is gas how Axel is in a lot of peoples thoughts, but wasn't it proven he was eliminated by not entering the ring by the time the next person came out? I'd like to think Triple H would hold Reigns title shot from him until he is forced to help the Authority get rid of Sting, then earning his title shot!
