Up 6.30am, 20 min drive to train station, 1hr 15mins on train, 20 min walk to work. Then reverse. Home 7.45pm. Doing that a long time now. Can be tough but worth it to me so I can live in the peace and quite of the countryside.

Back in 1998, I spent 9 months commuting from North London to a contract IT job out in darkest Surrey. Public transport: Bus, Tube, Train, then a km or so walk. In the last month (December), I was off for two weeks with pneumonia (probably). Never again.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

4 hour commute a day by car. It's tough in the winter months but don't mind too much in the summer as I'm still home at 7 and there's hours of daylight left.

Have an excellent job but you couldn't pay me enough to live close to where I work.

15 minute walk, the hardest part is trying to decide what appropriate tunes to put on. Do I put on a few short 3 minute-ish ones or maybe 1 or 2 long songs?

The things I have to go through in the mornings, I tell you.

I used to live across the road from work thinking it was Ideal but at the weekends I was walking round the same area I walked around Mon-Fri.

I kinda felt like I was living in a bubble, same pub, shops, faces, cafes 7 days a week. I moved 20 mins away and it's way better.

Then rent increase drove me back further and I am not a 25 min cycle. Some days it's struggle to put on the shorts particularly in this weather but it cheaper, faster and healthier than train or car.
