Hi all, i'm here to prod again and ask some questions!

Any researchers out there know what kind of research positions are available in the health sector, working in/for hospitals etc?

What kind of work would be involved, would much be based on clinical trials? As a result would you need a background in chemistry/medicine or would positions be available for social science and stats graduates?

    Sincere thanks for any info.

IF you want to do wet bench work, you'd probably need a background in the area. For stats/analysis, you'd need experience in stats etc. There's research labs attached to some hospitals such as Crumlin and Temple Street, they don't do clinical work as such. There's also clincal trials companies such as ICON you could approach.
There's healthcare research done in university labs too, it depends on what you want to do really

    Once again, you are welcome.

Most research positions require some job-related experience. One way to obtain such experience are paid internships with major health care corporations. For example, across-the-pond MITRE is seeking 3 or more Healthcare Analyst Graduate Interns for summer. Check with the major healthcare corporations (especially in Dub and Cork) to see if they too have openings, or cross the pond. Sometimes a successful internship will lead to full time employment with the internship employer.
