Should Ireland welcome Ukraine refugees?

Now that the Obama orchestrated coup in Kiev is going horribly wrong and is playing out as yet another depressingly predictable example of American "**** the world and **** little people" mentality which has caused 800,000 refugees to seek sanctuary in Russia, the whole effort to have nazis in Kiev control all of Ukraine looks like a fantasy.

The people of Donbass are a hell of a lot more interested in fighting to the death to stay alive than the conscripts being rounded up in Kiev are to risk their lives.

    http://www.kyivpost.com/multimedia/photo/ukraine-hides-devastating-losses-as-russia-backed-rebels-surge-forwards-378321.html

So.....with Ukraine forces depleted, lacking in not only a motive but the morale to kill every Novorussian in Kiev in order to comply with Washington's wishes, they are deserting and becoming refugees.

Should Ireland accept as refugees conscripts who just want to stay alive rather than most certainly die if forced to fight against a people they are ordered to exterminate?

Depends on the individuals situation. But if they meet the criteria for refugee status, then sure.

Huh, guess you get all your news from RT, the stuff that filters through the gaps in your tinfoil hat anyway.

(When you get a chance how about some evidence for that claim you made about the afghan pipeline hmm?)

Yeah the Ukranians I've met seem like a grand bunch of lads/ladeens. Their neighbours who have come here have improved the place so they may as well come too.

No, its not the entire Ukraine under a threat of war, its not an expanding front. why would they not move to another part of the Ukraine? Why cross every country between here and there to come here, we can't even manage what's going on here, so no. Doesn't really matter if they are sound or not, I'm sure they are, why would that matter.

No need. The Russian-Ukrainians (colonists) can go back to Russia where they belong, whereas the Ukrainian Ukrainians can go towards Kyiv and suchlike Western Ukrainian cities.

And why would we take deserters?

Egg 'the West is evil but I still live here' inacup is in the hizzle!

    So before this gets locked..
I think almost all displace Ukrainians are within the country or in Russia.

    Apropos of whatever:
After Syrians, the 2nd most common nationality claiming asylum in Europe?...... Russians.

This thread seems more like a stab at America than one about refugees.

If they meet the criteria, yes, but as others have mentioned, it's only in the east at the moment, so they're not totally ****ed. I'm not trying to trivialise the situation of anyone who has lost their home or family, but as it is the whole country is not yet a no-go zone. That said I would welcome any who did decide it was unsafe and came to Ireland, or anywhere in the EU.

Yes ,provided they meet the criteria ,are willing to assimilate and the number allowed in is limited in relation to our population size and resources.

why ukrainian? surely syrian refugees would benefit more... ukrainians have more choice, and the 'war' there is much less widespread and bloody

Egginacup is one of those posters where everything is a propoganda and fcuk America etc.
Every one of his/her posts are somewhat aimed at attacking the States or some other "western" power and how it is all done to oppress the poor little people trapped in the caves.
As one poster has already pointed out, this thread seems to be more directed at America bashing than the actual thread title.
How long will this thread last I wonder?

Fair enough, but where does it all end?

We can barely sustain our own population with regards to social housing, social welfare & our health system is at breaking point.

Call me a rascist if you will, but it's time to curtail the influx of non-nationals until we get our own house in order IMHO

The best shills do, paid or not. You see similar with Israeli shills(Oh oh that'll have them come a running). meanwhile how Russia has a long history of this kind of misdirection. No doubt the BBC will be said to be anti Russia...

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

If Russia outfoxes its enemies as per the headline you linked to; how is it so easy to spot and dissect Russian propaganda?

While I have no doubt as to the viciousness of Russian propaganda and its wide reaching impacts, with analysis it really pales in comparison from what know the US is carrying out.

Now, the fact that US is also corrupt doesn't absolve anything that Russia has done or is doing but it is impossible to remove them (the US) from the Ukrainian argument (as people keep demanding) given how entangled they have made themselves in the Ukrainian conflict.

The Legatum Institute set up a special think tank recently to illuminate Russian propaganda. The video is here
Below is a quote in reaction to Russian spying as discussed by the panel in the video from this thread on A&A

    stevejazzx wrote:
.... the panel claims that the proliferation of Russian espionage has really reached new heights.

Well perhaps this is true but could anything even come close to or eclipse what we now know re: the NSA bugging of French, Italian and German Diplomats? It has been shown that at the very highest levels internationally the USA has been bugging its diplomatic counterweights in the most outrageous display of subterfuge and hostility towards supposed partner countries ever recorded.

The allegations and indeed hard evidence of this scandal as everyone is now aware extend right across the globe, its scope incomparable to any other spy activity we have ever seen. And yet here sits with the most brazen audacity five neo-con, right wing, new millennium think tankers who claim that they are only trying to protect us from Russian subterfuge with not even one mention of their own sides embarrassing and shameful record – Pomerantsev even reckons that Western powers should be able moderate the news with their own custom crafted stamp of media transparency. Incredible.

Russia says an incursion off the west coast of Ireland by its bombers was routine and legal as Ireland is now part of the Ukraine.

The Aran Islands have voted to join Russia in a surprise election last night.
