Hi, just some advice as this place is full of people who know.

I would normally eat cottage cheese close to bed time after a good weight session etc. But last night I picked up one of the other halfs 170gm pots of real greek yogurt. I was surprised to see it had 17grams of protein.

It tasted like a cross between yogurt and cottage cheese, not as much salt as the latter. so throw it donw with a hand full of wallnuts and it made a nice oul snack.

the question is, how good is it??? would I be better sticking with the cheese?.
don't get me wrong I eat fish and meat all day, and eggs. but this I found was like eating a yogurt. Id consider it as my before workout snack with a banana even.

    advise and abuse welcome.

I cant stand the taste of Cottage Cheese put I always add 200g of Greek Yogurt with Whey Protein and a banana for my post workout shake. It tastes lovely.

I think the main difference between the two would be the fat content.

I tend to get low fat Cottage Cheese however regular is quite low also compared to protein ratio. I know Cottage Cheese has a mix of Whey and Casein.

From what I remember Greek Yog has quite a bit more fat and hence higher Kal. Low fat Greek Yog is great if just looking the protein without the extra calories. But if you are not too concerned both are good.

I like the yogurt if I wanted a dessert type meal. I like cottage cheese added to a main meal like taco beef.

    plus two small oranges.
    8am black coffee

Now eating 1 large can of tuna and an apple ad water.

1pm lunch big tuna salad sandwich and water.

4pm : greet yogurt and handful of walnuts.

    6m 1 mile swim

Big bowl of chilli (made with lean mince and tons of mixed beans) and pint of skimmed milk.

Alternate both as a last meal before bed is what i advise...

Liberte natural greek yogurt is the best ive found, its always on offer in tesco/dunnes €2 for 500g, usual price is €3.
Its 50g protein per pot, mix in blueberries/raspberries/strawberries and its basically the healthiest dessert in the world ever, ever.

Tesco light choices cottage cheese is less than €1 per pot 300g, 30g protein, i have it straight like my whiskey.

7 days alternating these two is total cost circa €10 for ave. 40g slow digesting protein per last meal, hard to find better value/nutrition than that.

It's breakfast, Jim, but not as we know it.

300 grams is good but id prefer the 170grams and then round off to 20gm total with a few healthy cashews or something. I think id struggle eating 300gms at once. actually maybe not as id do a full tub of cottage cheese handy enuf.

great advice thanks. I was getting paranoid no one was interested in throwing their two cents!

    :D

I like leaving the spoon for a minute or 2 after eating this and watching the liberte or fagge turn into cement

Check out this handy chart for protein value. It's basically saying cottage cheese is cheaper but contains (slightly) less protein than greek yogurt.

i like the total 100% fat free greek yoghurt.

mix it with honey and about 100-120g of berries for dessert.

    also

for a breakfast I throw in a scoop of whey and 50g of oats into that mix .
good mix with a spoon and it's the ulimate breakfast (imo of course)

    works out about 692 calories
    78 carbs , 82g protein and 6g fat.

    and it tastes savage.

cottage cheese is nice too but I find I can't eat it all the time like I can with the greek yoghurt. I tend to go off it the taste.

FAGE Greek yogurt is the best I've had. Liberte is a second for me, then Aldi or whatever

Substitute the water for almond milk, and the yoghurt for frozen banana, fcukin delish.
