    Babies have no concept of gender or sexual orientation, or of the existence of other people as thinking beings outside of themselves. They're adorable little sociopaths really.

    They need people who love them wholeheartedly, but if you could ask them what sort of parents they would want, the answer would probably ones made of chocolate or jam, if they're hungry at that moment.

    Great, so you're completely in favour of children having two loving, caring parents of the same sex. Not that it has anything to do with the referendum but it's nice to hear.

    Legally this is already a condition of raising children. Are we going to go into the business of trying to predict the risks and refusing reproductive rights on that basis?

    When they're young yes but watch shows like Long Lost Family and regardless of how loving and stable an environment a child was brought up in, they always want to know where they really came from, even 40/50/60 years later.

    Well babies usually grow a bit older and learn to talk. The ones with loving same sex parents tend to say they are quiet happy with the parents they have.....unless they really want ice cream before dinner. I know my 4 year old niece wishes she could live with Granny because she gave her ice cream before dinner once.

    And due to variants in nature and circumstance, not all "man+woman" equations = "children" which an adult of even caveman-like intelligence would already know, surely?

    Well, there are other methods but that is the most common.

    What does this have to do with raising a child?
    You know - being a parent?

    I am sure that all around Ireland right now extremely drunk men are sticking their penises into the vaginas of equally drunk women. Some of them may even be doing this down an alleyway or similar salubrious location. Do you think the fact that drunk man can find the hole qualifies this couple to raise a child?
