Yes but we don't have much else to go on.

What do you mean 'we don't have much else to go on'? You made this statement in response to someone telling you that the line of argument you are perusing is irrelevant to the referendum. Surely if your only reason for opposing it is not relevant, then it would make sense to not oppose it?

how exactly do you bully somebody into voting yes? do you have to stand over them while they cast their vote?

In my opinion it is about redefining marriage which should not be done. In a marriage, the two parties involved can procreate which is impossible with same sex couples.

And so we return yet again to this canard. 'In a marriage, the two parties involved can procreate' except for the millions and millions of marriages where they can't including the infertile and the elderly. Even still it is not and never has been a requirement of marriage that children be produced. So why target gay people for extra exclusion?
I have absolutely no objection to same sex couples have all the legal rights that a married couple have. I can accept same sex couples living together as a legal entity but I cannot accept that they are married. Call it something else but do not impinge of the traditional definition of marriage

Firstly separate but equal is inherently unequal. Secondly you may have no objection to it but it is not clear that our constitution wouldn't still require a referendum. Thirdly are we really so precious about words that we would relegate some of citizens to second class status over an issue of word pedantics?

I don't think they'll do anything but it's not the optimal situation, that's what I'm saying.
WTF is "optimal" when it comes to families and relationships? Try riding the LUAS Red Line between Tallaght and Dublin, and observe how well some "normal" marriages have worked. You'll witness "normal" families that appear to be seriously sub-sub-sub-optimal, learn that being good parents is not predicated on having the orthodox combination of genitalia.

The referendum is not about homosexuality in general, a "thing" that isn't going to go away. I don't "get" it, and won't be doing it, but that's my problem. Personal feelings are not a basis for government policy. I know it's not explicitly about children either, but the next one might be, so I think it's relevant - and if I was a kid again, I'd be more worried about having good parents than the gender(s) of said parents.

(Some of you will be relieved to hear that, not being Irish, I don't get to vote in referenda here.)

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

You were always going to vote no. This brand of **** stirring is so incredibly tired it lost what little charm it had long ago.

I know right? imagine telling a section of society they were different and didn't have the same rights as everyone else?
